New Oil Specification for GDI (Ecoboost) engines

To clarify. The link posted was a result of 3 months of searching for a good oil for ecoboost engines. I started with a 2012 3.5 and now have 2 2.7 ecoboosts in the drive way. Personally I'm running valvoline that I can find at wallyworld for under 25 bucks for 5 quarts. I was wasting my money on additives and exotic oils. My job is building large yellow colored engines from 50 hp up to 2500 hp on diesel. I change my oil every 5000 miles and run an oil separator due to the cold temperatures in Colorado

So your running conventional valvoline in turbo 2.7 ecoboosts? How many miles have you run conventional oil in those engines? I respect that you work for Caterpillar, and I'm sure you know your stuff. But I wouldn't run conventional oil in a turbo charged gasoline engine. Diesel's are a different animal.

Thanks Squashed! There's a lot of great info on Rats Blog. Validates what I already know about Amsoil. The oil filter info helped me a lot. I'll be switching from my K&N oil filters to Ford Performance CM-6731-FL820. In fact I just ordered 3 of them from CJ Pony Parts. Thanks Man! I learned a few things. Much appreciated!
