It certainly is easier to remove the bumper. And honestly the bumper comes off VERY easily. Pop the plastic trim panel off. Disconnect the sensor (if you have it, just unplugs very easily). Then you'll see 3 bolts on each side you remove.
You'll also want to disconnect the harness going to the bumper first, which is located on the driver side. A plastic trim removal tool will allow you to pop the plug out from the body, which gives you more length.
I recommend 3 people to remove a bumper. One person on each side to hold it while the 3rd reaches up and disconnects the harness.
You can do it with 2 people if you just get 2 bins or something to rest the bumper on. Heck via this route you can do this with one person.
But yeah removing the bumper is the easiest method, which also lets you route the wiring.
But if you don't remove the bumper, use your factory wrench ford gave you since it's nice and small, turn the wheel out/in and remove all those bolts (there's a bunch of them)
