The idea is to protect your stuff when the top is off, otherwise you would only need a shelf, so I'm not sure why the lid wouldn't be solid pieces.

I get that the slits not only provide mounting points, and make the system lighter, less material and cheaper but I don't see this as a good solution with all those holes in the top.

Does it lock? I did not see latch's to lock the rear folding portion down.
I like the hinge top for easy access and able to load a tall item like a a few plants.
The panels should be solid and not slotted. It is a no for me with the slots. They are going to let rain, dust, uv rays in. This should protect my items when topless. I also don't need thieves to see whats inside when they are scouting for prey.
Maybe a 2.0 version could have these features that I think most people want.
