Prevent unwanted lateral movement during articulation and flex with this adjustable rear track bar. Compatible with Bronco's at stock ride height up to a 7-inch lift, this adjustable bar will keep your Bronco driving right.

From the factory, variations in the rear axle can shift the axle housing to one side. By having an adjustable panhard bar, owners gain the ability to center the rear end of their vehicle, effectively eliminating any handling issues caused by offset tracking problems (such as thrust angle offset).

This adjustment capability ensures improved stability and eliminates any potential adverse effects on handling arising from misalignment.

Depending on the trim level of your Bronco, they come with different ride heights. Yet they all have the same track bar (except the Raptor). We have seen the rear ends 3/8” off-center, possibly up to 1/2” on some models. This Steeda track bar fixes that issue.

Basic question from a newbie…. Does a track bar not force the rear axle from side to side as it moves from full compression to full droop? If yes, how much lateral movement is forced by the bar during full travel?

If not, what am I missing? Would a Watts link not be superior, if precise lateral location is at issue?

Happy to be educated if I’m otherwise clueless.

Hello Greg,

I spoke to our internal team, this is their feedback:

A pan hard bar will allow the rear axle to move in an arch or a C-shaped pattern during the suspension range of motion. You want the pan hard bar to be parallel with the ground for the least amount of movement. With the Bronco, as the ride height is increased and the suspension is compressed, the axle will shift to the driver's side. The problem lies with only one pan hard bar part number from the factory, different trim levels of the Bronco will have the rear axle off-center.

This increases tire wear, and clearance issues going off-roading and as you add aftermarket wheels and tires.

Your 2nd question: If not, what am I missing? Would a Watts link not be superior, if the precise lateral location is at issue?

You’re spot on. A Watts link would be far superior to a pan hard bar as instead of the rear axle moving in an arch it will move in a tiny S pattern. The only problem is typically the cost and a reduction in ground clearance with a watts link. We make one for race applications for the 2005-2014 Mustang but haven’t seen enough demand yet for one in the Bronco.
