Video # of the Rubicon Series has posted.
Me and the BRaptor traversed the Rubicon Trail with a 392 3.5” on 38s and a JKU 4.5” on 37s.
The BRaptor was amazing!!! The 3 of us were Rubicon newbies with no guide so we were a bit conservative. Plus we were filming everything so we were SLOW. Being stranded out there was a real concern that is a huge tax on the psyche. I really didn’t want to be stranded with very little access to parts from Ford. My spare tie rod was on backorder so I didnt have a back up to the “weak link”. I didn’t attempt Soup Bowl or Old Sluice. The BRaptor is too wide for the last Old Sluice V Notch. We weren't able to take Little Sluice. There was a JKU roll over rescue in process. FYI the Little Sluice bypass was crazy!!! Big Sluice hairpin corner was a challenge to everyone even a bad a$$ 80 Ram Charger on 42s. We had to winch the BRaptor once there i was hung up on the rear drive shaft. There was a v notch on big sluice that the BRaptor was too wide to fit through. The work around was F’in nutz but was able to work through it. The rest of Big Sluice was challenging but the BRaptor crawled right through. Cadillac Hill was a breeze. I did that solo without a spot!!!
I crawled everything super slow Rock Crawl mode 4L stay bar always disconnected. I held 1 st gear all day long!!! I remained unlocked unless I needed traction then tried rear lock. If that didnt work then locked front. I found that the t case chain is super sloppy in Low range unless you use trail pedal. So sloppy i thought i was going to destroy the t case. Trail pedal smoothed it right out like the Ford engineers designed it that way.
Even with stock sliders I had zero body damage. the front passenger fender popped off twice but snapped right back in. I put one small dent in the rear bumper. I dented the muffler pretty good but still fully functional with no sound change. The BRaptor needs a skid plate for the exhaust/muffler area
Pre-trip i removed all mud flaps, the fog light corner assemblies, the side steps, rear license plate plastic frame, and some rear bumper plastic. I put the fog lights assembly back on but i will keep all of the other stuff off for now.
Here is a video showing the BRaptor in the beginning sections of the Rubicon!!!
