Good morning all,

I’m still pretty new here. However just wanted to let those that didn’t know Ford is currently running another discount. It’s back to 20%!! Funny Labor Day was less at 15%. My small contribution of information, I hope to give more soon!

The code is “TRUCK20” and it’s good from Sep 9th to Sep 20th.

Im going to be pulling the trigger on the rear diff cover and slide-out tailgate.

Does anyone have any other parts they recommend/really happy they bought?
I have a late year build 23 Badlands SAS.

Is the Ford Diff cover one of the better to get? It seems to be a pretty good one across the board.

I’m aware the slide-out tailgate has other options out there but from what I’ve read people seem to like the ford version the best (minus it being kinda pricey). It also seems to have the “cleanest”/“seamless” kind of install.

My last question would be should I wait to purchase? Is there a time of year you’ve seen bigger discounts from Ford? I’d wait for the tailgate if there was a higher discount to have, and I just needed to wait and be patient.

Thanks again! Happy to be on a forum that’s not completely ridiculous like most are these days. Hope everyone’s had a great week, thankfully it’s almost the weekend!

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing the news of the discounts.

I have the Ford Performance Diff cover and installed myself. Several of us have done so. It’s a solid diff cover and any would be better than the stock with exception of those that are flat on the back. Those look nice, but moving the oil around suffers. ARB makes another good one that many guys have installed.

Big benefit is the drain plug so it’s easier to change the diff oil if you‘ll off-road often or just want to keep the diff clean of metal shavings and sludge. Most of us get to choose the oil brand and weight we like best.

Not sure you’ll see a sale better than 20% off, but if you have Ford points, you can use those as well.

Get what you think will give you the most value for now and there will be other sales throughout the year including holiday season and around holidays in general.

Best promo I saw was a 25% sale several months back, but those are rare. 20% is a solid discount.

I went for the trailer brake controller and rear differential cover. Both installed easily, and the ability to easily drain/fill the rear differential fluid gives me peace of mind when towing our travel trailer.

As mentioned above, choose what will make the truck more useful for you and go for it.

TRUE, but they usually have a cap on the discount!

You more or less have 4 "things" that you'll need to procure.

1) the hitch itself that bolts to the bumper - Ford sells the part for ~$400 but you can get the exact same thing for $100 in many other places. I'm a very OEM-type of person, but in this case, its just some black painted steel connected with 4 bolts. The F-150 tail hitch is the exact same part so you can imagine the quantity of 3rd party offerings.

2) labor to install the hitch - its pretty easy to do if you have a metric socket set. Torque wrench is recommended, but ultimately probably not needed. Online demos and instructions are all over the place. ~20 minute job if you move slow.

3) the wiring harness - Being an OEM-type, I searched high and low to find one, ultimately the dealership told me they always just install Curt wiring harnesses. Apparently all towing packages in the past have or were dealer installed anyway?

4) the labor to install the wiring harness - the dealer wanted $600+ to do it all. What I gathered is that they just didn't want to do it.

And after all of that research and hunting for OEM products, etc.etc... what I learned is that I should have just bought a cheap (but appropriate) hitch, bolted it on myself and then gone to Uhaul to have them install the wiring for $50. It was the exact opposite of what I wanted to do from the start, but ended up being the best option in the end.

My opinion anyways...

Broncos are pre-wired now for hitches. I think someone said it took Ford less than 45 minutes to install.
Thanks. Seems to be Ford Performance parts only.
Sure would be nice to pick up a few filters at a good price. The search only produced air-oil separators.

I have to go to a dealer 20 miles away to get these mailorder parts. (My dealer is only a few miles away.)
I ordered the security panel and the labor to install it, and they sent me to an independent company for installation. Apparently the Ford dealer doesn't install it's own parts when you order them online.
