So, I've had my Bronco about a week but was out for work for 4 of those days.

I drove the Bronco yesterday and Car Play wouldn't automatically connect. I tried to pair the phone again and it would play music but didn't show the apps page or "Apple Music". Just played the songs. I could also make calls, but again no apps.

Since then I've played with it some and can gets apps to come up but it never auto connects to Apple Car Play. I have to go to the page on the screen that allows me to pair the phone and then select Connect to Apple Car Play. Then it all switches over to the apps.

What am I missing? When I first got it it paired right up to Car Play. The only thing I changed was using Airplane mode while I was traveling for work.

I would try without airplane mode. AM shuts off your data and just does Blue Tooth basically so i suspect that on AM it is not connecting you to anything. Better minds than mine might have better suggestions.

Welcome to Apple Car Play. I’ve never had it work well or reliably with any vehicle. I just use the Bluetooth connection.

I use it all the time on my 2018 Edge. It is better than it used to be. Updates over the years have improved it... love it.

Sorry for clarity. I used Airplane Mode on the aircrafts as I flew for work. It is not in Airplane Mode now...

I've tried Bluetooth and jacking in through USB.

Sucks to hear this might be the norm for Car Play. Just weird it jumped straight to the apps before I traveled and now I have to go through the extra screens to connect up.

This is my first Apple capable vehicle. I appreciate the help.

Here is a link I used to connect my CarPlay to my Bronco wirelessly and it hasn't failed me yet.

Every once in a while CarPlay won’t connect. Sync 4 is better because you can do wireless so no cable needed but if it ever doesn’t connect this is the sure fire way to get it to come back.

hold power and >> track foreword for 10 seconds and the screen will reboot then it will reconnect.

It works when it wants too. Try restarting your phone.

Once you're attached via CarPlay, go into the settings on the CarPlay screen. There may be something in there that doesn't let you phone "trust" your Bronco. Mine has been working flawlessly.

Good intel here. Maybe my problem is I refuse to have siri activated on my phone.
Siri is great, you don’t need to have “hey siri” turned on but you do need to use her using the button to do most things with CarPlay. It’s nice having her read and respond to text messages hands free.
