Could just be a lower trim. Maybe it doesn't have a lighting/tech package.Look at the driver's side headlight. It looks clear with nothing over the lens. I think its the angle or lighting that is causing the illusion something is over the lens.

It being a new truck I did opt for the 100 thousand mile warranty but very few have had big issues with the truck. Early on there was an EGR recall but other than that it has been perfect. I have driven the gas burners and the 2.7 plus the 3.5 liter. The 3.5 liter eco boost barely cuts the mustard in the F150 engine choices. I found the 2.7 liter turbo motor to be very under performing in the lariat crew cab and up f150.
I believe the 2.7 liter twin turbo would be fine in the mid sized bronco but having around the same displacement size as my STI motor but moving twice the weight is not a fun prospect in the F150. Funny story is I got into a discussion/ debate at the dealership with a 6.7 liter Power Stroke owner complaining that he was only getting 16 mpg in his F250 Superduty. I as well as the service advisers told him that the F150 diesel returns 25 ish more in 2wd form, I feel 440 ft lbs of torque to be respectable but with some of these motors making 1000 HP and 900 plus ft lbs he laughed and said his wife would like that truck. I was like okay yeah mine does, but enjoy those 100-150 dollar fill ups and the maintenance costs are higher on the bigger diesels. I usually spend around 50-60 bucks on a fill up (range is 600-700 miles), and 80 dollars on an oil change but you are not changing the oil till 7-10 thousand plus miles. They want it changed every 5 thousand but the oil monitor computer goes to 7-8 thousand sometimes more depending on conditions.

So ... after the dozens of times I've seen this photo ... I JUST NOTICED that the tip of his thumb is obscured by part of ring, and the whole "Lasso" (yes I'm coining that term) protrudes out from the rest of the clear plastic.This is the visible part of the headlight:
So yes, the center part of the light will likely extend into the grille, which would cover the part behind it.
