Looks like the word is out.

NHTSA investigation report:

Carscoops said:
Following reports from multiple owners, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation into Ford Broncos equipped with the 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine.

“Under normal driving conditions without warning the vehicle may experience a loss of motive power without restart due to catastrophic engine failure to a faulty valve,” the safety regulator wrote in a document, describing customer complaints.

Yeah this is definitely more than a low frequency problem retriscted to a couple months of production.

Strange that Ford hasn't quickly jumped into the forum to comment on this only to jump out of the forum just as fast.

Will the new engines come with the correct dipstick?
That's not the way manufactures operate.

Those who actually think Ford will recall these engines; it will never happen. If it breaks, they will fix/replace it. If it doesn't, then let them continue running. If it aint broke don't fix it; until it needs to be fixed.

Yeah typically they won't force a recall unless it is a safety issue.

You could argue that having your engine shut off at highway speeds is a safety issue, but realistically speaking you should be able to safely come to a stop if that were to happen. So I'm not sure if this crosses the line for a recall.

It became a BIG thing for the 7.3 PSD due to the cam position sensors failing. Motor would just shut off...

Having the engine cut out definitely crosses their line for a safety recall. There are many previous examples of the NHTSA forcing a recall when the engine could die.
