So it was finally raining a bit here in Southern California. My boys wanted to go romping through the mud and the puddles. So about 30 minutes of abusing the thing, I hit one last puddle and the engine died. I nearly died immediately thinking I aspirated water. But I’ve been in water that temporarily went over the hood and never had a problem. So I pop the hood, no water in the intake. I have the procal and pulled up the codes, fuel pressure low. Fire it back up limp the thing home. So I figured a sensor got wet or something . Took the negative battery terminal off and figured I’d come back after dinner and it would be ok. Nope. I was getting P008a&b which is indicative of a lift pump in the tank issue. So I figured ok I’ll drop the tank and figure out wtf I did, maybe I popped a line off the in tank pump. So I drop the tank and I find this line completely kinked shut (picture is it opened back up):

Inside the circle you can probably see the mark left after I unkinked the line. I’m not sure how it happened but I noticed when removing the skid the tank isn’t secured to the frame at all. So it seems like the tank might have slid and then kinked the line completely shut.

Everything works fine now. Going to order a new line so I can replace it and have the peace of mind that it won’t fail at that point. I’m considering just doing some -6AN for those lines so they are flexible and tough enough to deal with whatever.

Also… anyone have a PN for that fuel line? Lol

Good catch @Bigguyry2000 (y)
Like others, curious how that was able to happen

i might have jumped the thing pretty hard a couple times into and out of mud holes to entertain the kids. Must have dislodged the tank slightly. Either way, wouldn’t have happened if I was driving it like a sane person.

That might just do it

My only guess is that the tank must have slid. I didn’t see any debris or significant impact damage from running over anything. Plus it would be hard for something to get up there past the skids and stuff. I have a black diamond so it has the factory plates

Just curious, have you had the MT Synchro TSB completed?

The dealer pinched my fuel line upon reassembly
I haven’t had any weird noises and the bronco is out of warranty now. So no, the TSB thing for the synchs hasn’t been done. I did replace my t-case and trans fluid at like 15k miles though after an extended water crossing and also fording a couple creeks, just to avoid any possible water contamination. Maybe the fresh fluid helped me out avoiding that noisy synchro thing.
That might just do it
I just don’t want to blame ford on something that I was likely the cause of rofl. I have fully adjustable coilovers now also, and they are awesome… but it leads me to do things far more drastic than I normally would haha.

A lot of water also possible the tank floated… it cant go far obviously, but it wouldn't need to go far to kink the hose.
