We were worried about this as well, but 15k miles on the odometer and half of those on dirt roads and I've wiped it out one time. You could plant a garden inside the gas door on my wife's Toyota Highlander though after just a couple of weeks.

That's what happens when you have months and months to think about a Bronco that still hasn't shown up.

Seriously though, I have a Police Interceptor and an Excursion, and dust, and water, gets behind the fuel door.
We had an Excursion for years, the bronco isn't anything to worry about, zero comparison with the fuel door dirt on an Excursion.

The Bronco isn't Ford Motor Companies first rodeo with a
Ford Easy Fuel® Capless Fuel Filler.

People worry about the weirdest things on here. The F150 has had this feature going on a decade now and is the #1 fleet vehicle for construction companies. I am in Texas and we have never had any issues with our work trucks and excessively dirty fuel filters. Air filters yes, fuel filters no.
Ditto.
I worried about it when I got my F150. That was 13 years and 150,000 miles ago (with lots of dusty roads) and no problem yet.

I agree with the OP, but this will be interesting. I've never had a car with a cap-less filler.

Every car I've owned, when you open up the gas door it is filthy inside. But if Ford does something to seal the door and keep that whole area clean, then I can see how it would not be a problem.

Wouldn't want to water for it up to the gas door though :)

You'd have to be this deep to intrude into the filler door...I think you would have other issues.

This. The Bronco is not the first vehicle to not have a gas cap.

The fuel door has a seal on it. As long as your fuel door properly closes, there should be no issue. I have not had any issues with my 10 year old Focus, but I dont live on a dirt road.
The locking plug I bought just for fuel security, because people are assholes and like to steal stuff. It does not say it fits the Bronco, but one would think the Ford capless design has not likely changed as far as the opening is concerned, but try at your own expense of course.

I’ll chime in from a different angle. DON’T LOOSE YOUR FUNNEL!
I’ve had this little trail ride fantasy in my head. . .
“I’m low on gas!”
“I got some; where’s your funnel?”
“Funnel.? Um . . . At home? . . . In my Garage?”
“How much beer you got left, Yeti Boy?”

People said the same thing about the top, yet somehow it disintegrated when exposed to sunlight and water according to Ford's recall --things that vehicles occasionally encounter during normal use.

If you're going to buy that, just use a condom... Same thing.
Now I'll finally have a reason to buy magnums. Technically I won't be lying when asked if I really do need them.... Regular just don't fit right.
