Looking at all the pictures and materials online, it appears you can't go full "Top less" and still have the roof rack on?

Rack attaches to the hardtop. That’s the point of those “exoskeleton” racks for the Jeep that attach below hardtop line. Good new is — just strap what you want to carry to roll bar. It’s kinda like a rack.

Go to 4:30 of this video. Only says the front top can come off it seems with the rack on.

Short answer is no. Not full topless. The front seat sections yes.
The rack attaches to the windshield frame and the clamshell rear portion.
Even in the 4 door it looks like it would be not user-friendly to remove the rear seat section with a rack on top, but mechanically I see no issue. At least from the best I can tell.

The exo-skeleton racks are the best bet to be able to go full open. They are quite pricey and still makes it difficult (more than not having the skeleton on there) to remove the rear clamshell, but it is entirely possible to do so.

That's just the two panels above the driver and passenger, not the whole top.

We'd need the roof rack for road trips but once their would like to remove the top for cruising the beach. Guess we'll have to see how hard it is to remove/install the rack.

Why I posted only the front comes off and the exact point of the guy saying it in the video. I didn't say the whole thing comes off.

I'm all for just the front panels on my future 2 door coming off when I have the rack on. If I truly wish to go topless or full naked (doors off too!) I can just remove the rack along with the back section of the roof.

A little more work, but worth any extra in order to enjoy a roof rack for camping and overlanding.

It will just be a matter of time until the aftermarket catches up an offers something like this.
Ford Bronco No Roof Rack with top off? 1602246490904

Or there could already be a version in the 200+ accy's
Does a soft top completely function with a rack like this on the jeeps, or does it not allow enough clearance to "fold back"?

I wonder if the aftermarket will make one of those that connects to the existing front rail mounts.

Yeah, apparently you can expend a little effort to take the rack off without dinging the paint or anything

just don't hand the parts to your kids or a drunk friend to hold, so no surprises when it comes time to put it back on tight and head home

I could see that being a logical mounting point. The cowl may be marginally more sturdy. The rear could either anchor at the rear bumper or on the bedsides under the lip of the cap.

On the Bronco, they'll have the fixed mirrors, but those have Bronco bolts. I'm really curious about what amazing and ridiculous things the aftermarket comes up with.
