I came down on a rock and damaged one of the bolts and associated nut plate on the factory skids. I believe the part number of the bolt is W721415-S439, but does anyone (@flip) know the part number for the nut plate? It doesn't appear to be a simple nut clip as is used in other locations. I could always install a rivnut, but would prefer the factory part.

Thanks in advance

The nut appears to be part of the crossmember so you may just need to drill the old one out and use a rivnut.

Thank you, @flip. Do you have a diagram of that area you can share?

Edit: Nevermind...found the diagram on your site.

I had the same thing happen, the nut is welded in the factory and is also inaccessible to tools after the skids are on; so tightening is tricky. I purchased some M10 Extruded U-Nuts from Amazon to try, I need to do an oil change soon, so I haven't tried to put them in there to see if they hold or not yet. I have also thought of trying a rivnut, but figured I would try this U-Nut first and see if it works.

My first attempt at getting the nut to stay-put (the weld broke free on the hit) was to use JB Weld, but that didn't hold up when I took the skid off for the next oil change. I also needed to replace the bolt, as the head was half shaved off and the shaft bent. I guess it was a big rock? I can attest to the skids working otherwise though! This has been the only mishap so far, this one bolt sticks down further than the others.

I've ground these back to a hex shape about 3 times now. It's good to be able to get replacements but there has to be a better way.

Thank you, Scott. I have to order the bolt as well as mine is also partially sheared off.

I just ordered the same U-Nuts and will give them a try this week.

I've been looking for some sort of cone washers for the factory bolts, but haven't found anything that will accommodate the captive washer.

You can see the tack welds on the nut flange. Also another pic there to see what the bolt head looked like after he said hello to a rock.

A lot of those cones are the washer too, so if you swapped to an off the shelf M10 bolt without a captive washer you'll be golden. But my experience is those cones smash over and get in the way of a socket. At least with an exposed head you can get vise grips on it as a worst case scenario.

A fastener which is totally unaffected functionally after repeated forceful bashing & scraping against rocks of rockwell hardness only slightly less than a diamond.

This I gotta see !!!
I‘ll be watching this thread for scientific breakthroughs.

I ordered the Hillman Group Extruded U-Nuts, assuming you ordered the same. I only test fit it, as I'm not putting the skids back on for a week or so, but the u-nut fit well and a bolt threaded in just fine.

Also, found and an additional issue that I couldn't see until I cleaned off a bit of mud, lol.

Edit: Agreed the stock skids are pretty good, but they didn't stand up to landing on this rock off of a jump.

Dang, and I thought mine were bad... Barnes has a weld on reinforcement kit for super cheap.

Awesome, thank you!

Since that incident, I've figured out how to land on all fours. Initially the Raptor guys that run the group suggested to get off the gas as soon as the front tires leave the jump. Turns out, at least with the 7MT, that technique pulls the front end down. Now staying consistent on the throttle through the jump allows for a pretty even landing.

Great news! I plan to do this next week. Thanks for the update!
