I'll happily take the FE off your hands (scratches and all) and you can wait for my Base Squatch which will arrive in pristine condition sometime in the future...

I mean if someone is that concerned about it, they can always just get some spray on bedliner and coat the tailgate with it.
Great idea! But also, what about simply using a long Velcro strip along the inside of the flange of the mat, wouldn't that hold the mat in a forward position so that it doesn't slide back and hug the tailgate?

This kind of stuff is why I suggested LineX in the unpainted tailgate thread. Wait til you have other cargo rolling around back there, that paint is going to be hammered in a couple years.
I've thought about this, but two concerns from a newb. 1) Fit issues, extra thickness causing issues with closing or sealing properly. 2) Rougher LineX texture now damaging said cargo.
Never worked with spray in liner, so hoping I'm just overthinking.

That’s what I’m doing to mine
I’m not sure why ford didn’t cover that in plastic unless it’s some macho outdoor statement. Same with jeep. That panel depending on what you keep back there will get mauled.

I am totally OCD when it comes to this kind of stuff and not to mention this is my first new vehicle in over 20 years, so to say it will get pampered is an understatement.
