Picture taken from another thread as it represents the issue I'm having (the bottom, not the crossbar gap). What adjustment am I missing to allow the bottom of the mount and the rubber gasket to sit flush with the hard top. Mine has this same gap, and that rubber gasket vibrates while driving which makes a heck of a noise.

I'd try loosening all the bolts to the brackets and bars and pushing it down when you go to retighten it. If that doesn't work, I'd put another piece of thin rubber under it to prevent it from flapping around/vibrating
