Off road driving destroys my average lifetime mileage... and who cares its a heck of a lot of fun.
What is your off road mpg?
I have never had my primary vehicle with the electronic mileage tracker. With people posting they get 19-23 mpg I watch mine like a hawk because it's still new and neat to me. 2600 miles since May.
I notice normal driving for me I float between 17-20 mpg with my per tank mpg. Hand calculation is .5-1 mpg lower.
Best my lifetime average has been is 17.2, currently at 16.7.
When I add in a off road adventure my per tank mpg can drop down to 13-14 mpg.

I guess you can call this my humble brag since I have been able to hit the trails once a week since getting the Bronco and its been a lot of fun. So far its a very impressive & capable truck.
I look forward to more fun adventures.

Yeah, I get the humble brag (before you told us). Anyone whose off road driving has meaningfull effect on overall mileage is getting off road a lot. Kinda like saying my condom purchases are really cutting into my budget.

Good for you, no really good for you!

I am also genuinely curious to what others get on the trails for mpg, seeing the mpg all the time wakes you up to where that gas goes

Went to a local park near me this last weekend. Started the trip meter before I left home. ~30 mile trip there, +4 hours of off roading and I was sitting about 12 MPG by the time I left.

No complaints!

Sounds like this is pretty average for off road mpg. That's what I was looking to find out. Never having the ability to watch mpg in the past I just had no idea it was so much lower.

Imagine how bad it gets when 80% of your driving involves off tar-- average MPH about 20 , MPG about 14, fun meter--pegged.

Offroad mileage goes way down. We just did a bunch of passes in Co. My jeep buddy’s Gladiator average went down to 8 so he asked and I looked. Mine was at 12. But we did a ton of offroad miles in 2 days.
Thus can be a real reason to carry extra fuel, especially in a 2-door with the smaller tank.

If you have done Offroadeo it is quite eye opening to see those miles remaining calculators. Those are just skewed heavily as normal driving is not done and the system is super out of whack but still was interesting to get in with a full tank and seeing sub 100 miles remaining.

MPG off road is very deceiving. Last week we went wheeling in the Salida/BV area in Colorado. Wheeled all day for 3 days and only burned a little over a 1/4 tank each day. Most of the day we drove just above idle in 4L. So MPG is "terrible" but you don't burn much gas wheeling as compared to driving all day on the highway.

I checked the lifetime on the bronco I got at OffRoadeo, was either 5.3 or 3.5

Driving on a relatively decent dirt road where you can go 25 to 30 MPH consistently, I’m guessing your normal MPG, if not better.

Crawling along at 2 MPH on a really bad road, 10MPG or less.

I went into Toroweep Overlook about 2 months ago. 3000 ft straight down to the Colorado River. 62 miles of dirt one way. I did the first 59.3 miles at 15 to 20 MPH, but the last 2.7 miles took me exactly an hour to traverse.

I was playing around the other day and found the instrument cluster has an “average speed” section.

That would be a good tell as well. I don’t know exactly how it’s averaging though - average over time or average over distance

With my 2 door wildtrak in Baja mode I’ve hand calculated as low as 11.4mpg, but that’s a lot of high speed WOT style. Other trails I usually average 15-17mpg depending on idle times, but Baja mode for sure burns gas a lot faster than sand mode or regular with 4A

I did a 50 mile off fireroad romp up and down the mountain last week just after I filled up with gas. Before I really knew this road, or if it was wet I was getting about 15 mpg. Last week after the latest mods for "testing" purposes I got 12.3mpg. it was a fun 12.3.... we were rippin pretty good. I'd say I'm always in-between 12-15 off road. My all time since I picked it up is 18.6 mpg. Lifted, 35's with the 2.7. About 34k on it.
