Well, I had a off-roadeo experience scheduled for March 4th. The wife and I were very much looking forward to it after the waiting for our ordered Bronco. A weekend out of town and really going through and learning more about the ride we purchased. I was initially skeptical but went ahead and paid the $611 bucks (winch money).

I realize that the next paragraph has nothing to do with the off-roadeo but...

I made hotel reservations and we both took Friday off of work. The day arrives, packed the bags, drinks and snacks. Happy happy happy. Start the Bronco and get the Sta-Bar disconnect failure...do not drive above 20 mph. I shut it down and wait, restart, still there and determined that the sta bar was connected after running around the block. Off to the dealer. I drive into service, they initially thought it was a TSB recalibration. No biggie, waiting at the dealer an hour or so later, they needed to keep it as the Sta-Bar needs replaced. No loaner- for out of town. Cancelled the hotel and called off-roadeo folks to reschedule.

Fast forward 3 weeks, and go to reschedule and surprise....we need another $250...WTF. Spoke to the lady, no exceptions...no refunds. I spoke with Ford Customer Service...then pinged to marketing, the customer service, then marketing, then a customer service specialist, then pinged to Lincoln then pinged to Ford Pass were I learned that points were used for the "Bronco Experience" and reminded that OBX was not operated by Ford.

I spoke with the Off-Rodeo folks again and they offered to knocked off a $50 rescheduling fee...No Refunds.

What initially was a fun weekend, ended up costing me $611, a day off, a hotel room that I didn't use and I am not throwing another $200 at it. I am going to try an recoop any points that went towards the "experience". I understand rescheduling and the headache and expenses...but my 60k Bronco, quit me on my way to the "Bronco Experience". The irony of it all annoys me to no end.

I should have bought the winch.

I thought you weren't even allowed to use your own vehicles at the off-roadeo for insurance purposes? So you could have still showed up with the Bronco in the shop? Or am I missing something?

I thought the same thing initially, but then it hit me that their Bronco was probably their transportation to the Off-Roadeo.

---

Anyway... I feel like my post from a few weeks ago just justified itself.

The sway bar disconnect system is a hydromechanical system that is not considered to be user serviceable. In addition, when it fails your vehicle may be limited to 20 mph. For a component that I rarely use, isn’t user serviceable, costs a fortune to fix/replace, and can dramatically limit the operation of the vehicle when it fails… that’s a lot of liability I rather not have.
Sorry @Salt Shaker ... what gigantic unfortunate series of events.

Wow, that really stinks. What a downer for something that should have been so great. Hope it all works out and you enjoy your experience.

I can I had a little bit of information on two subjects related to this. First, you cannot drive your own bronco. I went in November 2021 in Austin and they had about 50 brand new Broncos there Second. It is well worth even the $800 you have plopped down for this incredible experience. One of the best driving experiences of my entire life and an incredibly memorable day with some amazing Instructors.

Good luck!

I realize their Broncos are used, honestly I thought it was going to be a programming issue.

I could have unloaded and loaded up my wife's jeep....more irony, if I thought the Bronco was going in I would have.

I've been wheeling and breaking things and getting stuck over 40 years...I was indeed looking forward to learning more.

I'm just not going to spend another nickel on it, especially since I am not getting squat of the $611 as it sits.

It makes sense not to spend any more of your hard-earned cash on it @Salt Shaker

Out of curiosity, what drove the cost to $611? When I did it in 2021 it was complementary for me and I paid for a friend to join ($250) and bought the insurance ($75 I think). I had to pony up $250 for me initially and then they refunded me that money back about a month after we went.

They also gave me a $200 credit for the little swag store they have at the ranch which was a total shocker to me.

I am obviously missing something. Are you stating the off rodeo is keeping your payment, and if you want to reschedule you need to pay once again? I am aware that if one needs to reschedule they charge a $50 fee. ( Rideo offered to remove in your case). Is there some fine print that states you have to cancel within a certain time frame in order not to lose your $250?

It was a $150 owner fee for me, $426 for the wife and another $35 owner reservation fee.

They told me I needed to pay an additional $100 a person and a rescheduling fee of $50 (which they were willing to wave).

I was told yesterday over the phone that it was non refundable, and again this morning.

Pony up another 2 bills or nada.

I will take the hit on this one, I had no intention of not attending.

I’d be upset as well, the only thing you should have to pay is the 50 dollar change fee at the most. If it was my company and one of my products messed up with you getting there, I wouldn’t charge you anything and give you a credit towards some swag.

I really enjoyed my Off Rodeo experience but also felt the no refund sting. My guest had a medical issue the morning of the event. It wasn't urgent but prevented them from attending. That was $400+ gone.

But OffRoadeo is not Ford. The no refund policy was abundantly clear when making the reservations. It certainly is terrible timing that the OP's Bronco had problems preventing them from driving to the event. But that isn't the OffRoadeo's responsibility. Many attendees drive to the event in vehicles that aren't their Bronco. When I attended, I was the only one in the VIP parking (reserved for Broncos).
