So does anybody have any experience going off roading or crawling with steps attached to the factory rock rails like the AR magnums or the IAG rock rail steps?

I was concerned about possible damage. I know these are theoretically easy to take on and off but if I could get away with not taking them off i would prefer not to.

If you're going to do serious rock crawling, take them off, or accept that you will want to replace them every so often, Bolt on steps won't take the weight of the vehicle when you lean them against a rock or pivot on them.

If you're gonna actually rock crawl get rid of the factory "rock rails". They're more "rocker guards" than rock rails. If you like the paint on your doors, get some aftermarket rock rails...
