1 year of a free money investment @3% compounding interest is $690k in free money off the $23MM reservation fee.

The reservation money is forwarded nightly to the dealership that the reservation is placed. So, not a real BIG windfall from that regard. Significant at some dealers maybe, but but no one is going to be sitting on $23 million

Ford (in 2018) at the Dearborn plant was rolling an F-150 off the line every 52 seconds. That's roughly 1,661 trucks a day if they run 24 hours a day. At just one plant.

In 2017, Ford built 1,052,658 F-Series trucks that sold for an average of $46,500.

If they want to push out more Broncos, they will find a way...Like someone else said earlier, it will become a supplier issue first.

They should have made the reservation fee non-refundable. Weed out the window shoppers and impulse buyers. That's what Tesla did on their upcoming model releases. Plus they get to use that fee as capital to invest in the build.

Whereas Ford isn't even making any promises that the Bronco will even be made or that it would be made anything like what they've shown (all the legal disclaimers), the deposit has to be refundable. If we were able to put a deposit on a vehicle with the trim and options exactly as it would be produced, they could make a non-refundable requirement. But a company can't say, "Give us some money for a vehicle. We'll decide how it looks, features it has, etc., and if you don't like it, we'll just keep your money and part ways."
