How do you know it was a business decision and not a regulatory restriction?I have no idea why folks feel the need to bash the 2.3L. The engine is fine and works well in the Bronco. If you don't want it, don't buy it. To say it isn't up to the task whether commuting or back country exploring is wrong and silly. I've had 2.5L 4 cylinder off road trucks that will go farther off road and into more wild places than a lot of V8s. So they are half the engine than what is in my '75 EB (literally)...I like them just as much as my EB...just a different flavor.
They are offering the 2.3L in the Everglades as a business decision so that they have a better chance of actually producing them...while maybe filling some more of the existing orders folks have for 2.7L engines.
I thought that gross weight was also a concern here.
It could have also been an engineering rather than a business decision, based on any number of ways of looking at it. I don't know that I would though all my eggs in the "business decision" basket quite yet. Not having the 2 door available, that's certainly a business decision.
