First of all it's not a high rpm engine. It delivers torque low down like a diesel. My 3.5 EB never sees 2k rpm unless I have the pedal down hard. Towing rpms also stay low like a diesel. When Ford added port injection that took care of the problems that it had with carbon build up. The engines are very reliable unless you put a hot and unsafe tune on it.But I'm in agreement against the turbos. It is the one nagging fear I have about the Bronco, getting a tiny engine with a high RPM, red hot jet engine stuck on it to make decent power. How long will it last? If I have to buy a new turbo or even an engine in 5-10 years, the expenditure will be very disappointing. When my old normally aspirated engines run for decades if you keep oil in them.
I have kept several John Deere tractors for 15 years and had no turbo issues. As a matter of fact I have had turbocharged Deere's since '92 and never had a turbo issue so I wouldn't expect a turbo failure in an ecoboost unless you are stupid and don't let it cool off before shutting it down. The 3.5 EB continues to siphon water through the turbos to cool them after you shut the engine off but not sure about the 2.7. Either way I always let all of my turbocharged equipment cool down before shutting them off
