Really, Ford Performance "broadcasts" in some way every install of Tuners to the entire dealer network? Seems odd, unnecessary and somewhat difficult to implement. What benefit or need does this server for both FMC and dealers?
Distribution of the information should not be difficult. IT systems ingest data all of the time.

Not a Ford employee or insider but a few things come to mind as to why.
1. Warranty billing goes to FP instead of Ford.
2. Denial of service past 3/36.
3. If problems arise on tuned vehicles the dealer service departments can be notified and made aware so they don't chase rabbits down the wrong hole.

Pretty easy to implement. Everything is already is place really.
Ford Performance doesn't broadcast anything. They already have every VIN attached to a Procal.
They give this information to Ford who already has a website with all of your vehicles information for dealerships to see each time it's in for service. They simply attach a warning to that website. Just as if they were warning dealers that a specific VIN has a recall for instance.

As far as benefit or need, @JerryC pretty much nailed it. All of those are reasons why I'm sure. Mainly the warranty coverage and approval.

So I tried contacting several "performance" shops in my area (MA/NH). All - nope. Nobody will take on the installation - not sure if it is because it could look dangerous to them as the request is for a receipt with the ASE technicians certification number attached?

Anybody in MA/NH with recommendation for an installer that will install? I haven't tried my dealership simply based on the comments noted about folks' nightmares with this.

Has anyone with theirs installed:
-Done it themselves and seen issues (or not seen issues)
-Had it installed and seen issues?

At this point, I am progressing to doing it myself, as I am not intending to abuse the vehicle or otherwise modify it to a point where there would be an issue...so if something failed on the vehicle (engine, etc) it would be a guarantee of no warranty coverage?

there is a place in Eastford CT called Bowen's Garage. They have a performance shop associated with it - maybe try giving them a call?

I was going to ask my local dealer (Marcotte) when I go in for an oil change later this month if they do it as I am interested but also want to maintain the warranty. The fact that they make you go through this hooplah for the warranty is so dumb.

Okay this is going to be lengthy so brace yourself....this is for those of you who are not sure your tune took when you tried to flash your PCM. This is my personal experience and nothing below is Ford Performance backed information.

I had my suspicions my tune did not upload correctly when I took it to an ASE certified tech. Not blaming the tech one bit; I was standing there with him the entire time. We watched the Blocks scroll across the screen and we even got the Engine Off for 3 Seconds message at the end. Being that we had only owned the vehicle for 3 weeks prior to the tune coming in... it was hard to use the "feel" method for any performance gains.

Today I decided to plug the Procal back in to the PC. To my amazement, there was actually a update that was done. Not sure if it was for the Procal device or an update for the tune. Those of you who have seen or used the software know......it's not the most advanced piece of software on the market. I took the Procal back to the Braptor and did the upload again.

Differences or things I noticed during this flash versus the first time:
1) I was doubly sure all electronics were off. I'm pretty sure we did this the first time but double checked everything this time. (Lights off, radio off, screen off, AC/blower off, closed door some cabin light was off)
2) Immediately after selecting the performance tune and the start of the upload; there were several chimes/dings and dashboard lights. This lasted about 2 seconds but I know for a fact the first time we did the flash none of this happened at the beginning of the tune upload.
3) This takes a full tank of gas for this one, so keep that in mind. I had just topped the vehicle off with gas and my "Range" pre install was about 320ish miles to empty. Right after the flash I was sitting at 405MTE. Just check your "Range" before you flash and again after the flash. It should significantly increase. This comment has no opinion on whether or not this range increase is real or not.
4) Pre 2nd install....I was only seeing 18-19 PSI at full boost. After this flash; I saw 22 and 23 PSI on two very quick pedal to the floor smashes. One was from a dead stop; the other from a 15 roll.
5) I always thought our rigs were quick for their size and weight. If they weren't, most of us wouldn't have made the purchase. There was/is a noticeable difference in acceleration pre vs post flash.

Hope this helps someone...I was beginning to think this was a waste of money for the gains I initially thought I had. Now that I actually have those gains.....money well spent in my opinion.

Got mine done today at my dealership. They do these all the time from superchargers on F150's and mustangs.
They are roush certified. Anyhow, similar results such as the MTE was way up and I only had 3/4 of a tank yet it gave me a range higher than when the tank is full.
Shifts are smoother as I run in sport mode always. Hit it a few times and the acceleration from 2nd, 3rd, 4th pulled like a beast! Definitely stronger grunt in the low rpms.
Couldn't do a pull in first from a stop as it had been raining and all I got was wheel spin. Got some wheel spin 3rd to 4th as revs were high which made it kick sideways a bit so had to back off.
Hopefully will be dry tomorrow so I can try a launch and see how she does..

Great news, which Dealership did yours? Which Service Advisor did you schedule with? Were you able to arrive and just wait for it to be completed? What did they charge for the install?

Or PM please if you feel it’s more appropriate. Sounds like Koons or Ourisman..
Thanks..

Ted Britt Fairfax..Was there first Bronco. Didn't wait but they gave me a loaner, no charge. Got there at 10am. Mechanic had vehicle ahead of mine to finish. They called me at 3pm to say it was done. Also had an oil change performed...

Gave it a test this morning on the way to work. Was able to open it up.
Had gauges on and watched vacuum/boost. On most of the pulls, saw a 23 to 24psi read. One pull hit 25psi for a split second but most if not all peaked at 24psi.
Not sure what a stock unit produces.
Should have checked before hand.
Low to midrange is vastly improved.
Triple digits come fast from a 60mph pull...

Called Ford Performance Techs this morning for some education.
Stock turbo boost is around 18-19 psi so gains should be in the 4-5 maybe 6 psi max.
23 to 24psi should be the norm for the tune..

Yup, exactly as has been reported here by me and others.

Also, this install is a 10-20 minute job. Register with FP, download device firmware update, download tune, flash tune.

Now that I have put some decent miles on it in regard to the trans relearn, even in Normal drive mode, the trans shifting is slightly noticeable on the good side, with rev matching downshifts no where near what sport mode does, but seems better IMO.

For those who had a Ford Dealership or ASE tech perform the install, did you log in and create your own FP account first and give that info to the Dealership, or did the Dealership do everything?

thanks
