Very cool, a much better buy vs. a Rivian in theory, but by the time these release in 2 years I highly doubt they start under the $70k mark. I’m sure the one you’d want with the gas/electric range extender thing (hybrid?) will probably be closer to $90k.
Agree, the cyber truck price increased significantly between its announcement and production dates. When the Scouts finally start coming off the line, they will be closer to $100k than $60k.

Haha, I had one the exact same color. Great vehicle in its day, the Scout was widely considered to be far superior to the Early Bronco. I’ve owned 2 Scouts and 3 Bronco’s prior to all this retro biz. I had become a Subaru Man in my old age. But now I’m on my 4th Bronco, and possibly my 3rd Scout. I am very happy with my 6G Bronco, but I am mulling over making a reservation for a new Scout.

Good point on Navistar, but Germany is an ally and NATO country, so it could have been worse; think Mahindra was looking to buy them years ago and that would have been a disaster beyond measure.

In 3 years, that EV tech will be a bit more mature. However, I'm glad it isn't a VW ICE engine, as that would have been a deal breaker since I doubt the engineer team wouldn't have come from Porsche. I'm just not a fan of VW and certainly not Audi.

Original Scouts weren't well engineered or made and were low on power; reason why they've been gone. What Scout did have was a cool look and you could mod them ok.

The current retro fad isn't short term, so if the Scout passes the cool look test, it'll sell.

Just look at the Bronco for an example. Although looks don't matter during application, looks do sell cars and moving units is what any manufacturer is in business to do.
Do you honestly believe that Germany is a staunch ally?
You know that VAG is controlled by the Piech and Porsche families? You know where their wealth originated?

V8-equipped Scouts were not underpowered. How many horsepower do you think the 304-equipped CJ-5 had?

Scout, I-H pickups and Travelalls, and International Harvester construction and agricultural equipment are gone because of bad management, the same kind of bad management which caused the demise of Mack Trucks' legendary fire apparatus and off-highway mining trucks.

We put a man on the moon 60 years ago. They've solved electronics that can be fully submerged in water a long time ago my man
No dig on you about your knowledge. We found out from 2 hurricanes in a row this month with the high storm surge that EV’s and salt water don’t mix. The amount of them bursting into flames was alarming and not a myth. It’s not internet or news hype.
There just is some flaw in the design of some EV’s and they do bust into flames from geting submerged. I hope someone paid attention so they can correct whatever flaw that caused specific ones to burn up.

I’d love for links to verify this. We have submersible electric subs that don’t do this. There are electric boats and electric jet skis that only operate in water. Please don’t send that one model X. There are millions of EVs in the road. Should be easy to find 5+ links of on fire EVs in garages from water. FYO. Teslas were designed to float. There are videos of teslas driving theiugh flood waters. In fact, I’d feel more comfortable driving an EV through deep water than any stock ICE vehicle

Normal vehicles are not meant to see water over the hub. Also vehicles are not designed to sit in water. With time water slowly seems in and you get a short. Its not a flaw as much as it is outside reasonable expectations.

I’m sure if you search the web you will find plenty. After Helene the days before Milton the public warnings from the city’s here we’re going crazy telling people to get the EV to high ground as they had so many fires from them the week before.
keep in mind I’m talking being partial to full submerged not just puddle driving.
I suspect some models performed better than others, no one except the insurance industry likely has the data to look at to know which were more more effected by this.

As another Floridian, I can verify this.
Hell, even my neighbors battery blower caught fire....

Edit since I forgot I had this…
Here is a picture of one I took myself down the street from me.

I agree they were not designed to be submerged, i’m just sharing info that people should be aware of.

I guess it's pretty cool and well executed. It's just not a Bronco.

The "what's new" feed is clogged up with nothing but Scout threads, most of them linked to the other forum.

You said the quiet part out loud!

It makes the early war with BN about who was more authentic kind of funny in retrospect. This forum was always meant to be a cash cow.

 To be fair, the design is pleasant and whoever is doing their coding is doing a good job.

I'd really like to see the data on how many of these were LFP and how many were NMC chemistries. I suspect it is not easily available though.
