On the subject of dealers...

Someone brought my attention to this Facebook post.

Apparently the spouse of a Ford dealership manager was "braggin about baggin" one of the first full-size Broncos. The gist is that they had scored a First Edition reservation and, like everyone else, is still waiting on delivery. The difference: instead of a poster and a sticker, they seem to say they were given the "perk" of a temporary Bronco -- and a pretty nice spec at that, from the looks of it.

To me this seems just a bit tone deaf for a Ford insider to post given the widespread frustration being felt in the public. Especially since it unnecessarily implies that this CO is all his for the duration, when the likelihood is that he just gets to take the dealer test-driver home at night. What do you think?

Did I mention its a pretty nice spec? And by pretty nice I mean frigging awesome!!!

Both Demo's and cancelled reservations shouldn't be in production. Priority Should be given to those with an order. It's sickening that people can just show up at a dealer and drive home in a Bronco an hour later...

Exactly, the process and delays are frustrating but come-on...Yes perk of being in the business like any business. Probably had customers driving it already or soon after..

The same outrage we felt when learning of "priority" builds, because we live in a constant state of denial of reality. But certainly we'll pull strings for a buddy ...or expect them to be pulled for our kids benefit.

The same outrage we all feel when we sell our houses for profit instead of just breaking even, because certainly our fellow humans have a much stronger claim to a roof over their head than over a freaking car.

You know, typical hypocrytical internet crap like that.

So just as an amusing update. (At least I think it is.)

So the same couple who bragged on Facebook about how the husband, a Ford dealership manager, was able to score a temporary Bronco for free while waiting for his own First Edition order - while customers are still sitting around holding Herman, if you know what I mean.

So apparently the couple brings their comped temp Bronco and a Wangler to a car wash. I guess their kickass trailcrawler Jeep Wrangler had a light bar installed on the roof. Naturally, they neglected to remove it when they ran it through the automated car wash. Naturally the light bar caught up the car wash mechanism and somehow interfered with it. Naturally when the car wash arm broke free it snapped back to position and in the process cracked/smashed their Wrangler window.

And, naturally, they jumped on Facebook to blame-slash-defame the owner of the carwash, with the wife pulling rank about how what a bigshot her husband is.

Some people right! LOL
