The amount of ford simps is just insane, you post any issue and people come out no matter what defending the company. Downplaying a company taking almost 3 months to fix an issue on a brand new vehicle. Clearly it is a more serious issue than just a bad USB outlet. If there are electrical issues they can’t figure out, how do I know there are not going to be other issues?
It's not about being a Ford apologist, but for me the Bronco checks off so many boxes in terms of functionality and fun, a USB port that doesn't charge would be way down on my list of complaints, certainly not rising to the level of months out of action and lemon law buyback. But hey maybe I'm an easy date, lol.

Also I don't use the built-in USB port on any of my vehicles for charging, they usually provide lackluster performance. I have $10 or whatever fast chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter ports.

I stand by this person pursuing a repair or buy back. It has a warranty and needs to be made right. Don’t let corporate America win. Ever file a home insurance claim? Most are denied or severely underpaid. They deny most hoping to drive you away. Car insurance claims. Again low ball repairs or replacement cost. Not all, but many claims. These Broncos are wonderful vehicles. But have a few quirks and Ford needs to get it right. Imagine if the amount spent on warranty claims, even half was spent on the production improvements. How happy would owners be?

If something doesn’t work that is supposed to and is a feature of the vehicle- it should work! Doesn’t matter how small, big or trivial it is. And if Ford can’t fix it and make it right- they should buy it back. It’s that simple. Whether some of you use 1990’s tech or whatever doesn’t matter. This goes for any manufacturer. Forgiving shoddy product makes all of our products suck in the long run.

Your expectations aren't really relevant in this thread as the OP like most people these days expect a fully functioning vehicle for the money they paid especially at a time where vehicle prices are crazy high. Just because some people are satisfied with mediocrity it does not mean the majority of people are or should be.

I don’t see anyone defending Ford on this, it’s a fascinating issue to replace an entire car for a bad usb port.
People can’t get a loaner even when the engine or transmission fail and you got one for a usb accessory port. It’s just fascinating that you were able to achieve that.
Do you deserve a fully functioning car, yep you sure do and I hope they resolve this. It’s important for all Ford customers that Ford puts out quality cars and stands behind the new car warranty.
I’ve never tried to connect my phone to the Bronco and likely never will, however it should work and I would expect them to fix it also.

Good luck on the buyback since it seems they have no fix.

People are implying I am a troll or tool because I want a working product from Ford. I would say that is defending Ford. I didn’t just instantly ask for a buyback for this small issue and I understand how insane it is logistically the idea of a car is being replaced for this issue, but I gave Ford plenty of time and it was clear they didn’t care about trying to make it right. This is all after I went through another issue with the door switch not working causing the window to not roll up all the way, which took Ford a month to fix so I am running out of patience. If the issue is so complicated that they can’t figure it out, there are likely other issues.

you think I should just accept it on a 50k brand new vehicle is pretty ridiculous.
I think folks look at just the USB part and forget about what is expected from a $50,000/$60,000 dollar vehicle.... and the fact that the USB is part of a much larger system, where the problem may actually be.

It's like, here's the keys to your brand new $450,000 house ... none of the toilets work (due to a plumbing issue) though.
It's ok , the actual toilets are only a few bucks each.

Exactly, Ford is saying the computer is not communicating with the outlet. So it’s not just an outlet issue and I wonder what else is being impacted that I just don’t know about

Hello all,

I am happy you all are enjoying your Broncos, I guess I took one for the team!

I am wondering if anyone has actually had Ford approve their buyback without getting a lemon law attorney involved? My car has been at the dealership for getting close to 3 months since I purchased it in September because Ford has no idea how to fix the USB that connects to the entertainment. While I realize this is a minor issue, it was clear Ford wasn’t going to do anything about getting it fixed unless I pursued a buyback.

I waited patiently hoping Ford would take accountability for this since I clearly meet Texas lemon law requirements with 5+ visits to the dealership and well over 2 months under service so far, but was shocked to hear Ford was denying the buyback. They advised that the vehicle has not been under repair for long enough for Texas lemon law even though I have evidence it has been under repair for much longer, and that there is no one I can talk to to even discuss it to see why they denied it. I am now working with a lemon law attorney….. is this common for Ford to deny buybacks even when they clearly meet every requirement for lemon law? And there is no one I can even talk to about it?… Insane

Sounds like a bad dealer, not a horribly bad Bronco. My USB isn't even needed for entertainment. Have you tried the USB on the dash ? Aren't you using blue tooth ? Have they even tried 3-4 repairs ? I'd stop the presses on that lawyer and hit another dealership. (or I'd be lazy and just use a workaround, cause I dont need the USB).

It is at 2nd dealer, neither can fix it and both reached out to ford engineers for help and did not get a response. USB on dash works, but not ideal having a cord hanging from dash and I would like to connect by wire to entertainment. Yes I use Bluetooth, but CarPlay lags with Bluetooth and works better wired. There has been 5+ visits to dealers and well over 60 days under repair. If there is an electrical issue Ford can’t figure out, I am not going to just ignore it. There are other little issues I have ignored, but this is big enough that I would like ford to fix it.

Good thing I spent under $30k for my Bronco. Money does tend to charge things up. ;)

I'm guessing the buyback was denied because the concern doesn't make the vehicle unsafe or undrivable, it isn't a mechanical failure. Sucks either way that you are going through some of this but I can tell you first hand there are a ton of programming issues right now and engineers are hard (at best) to nail down for answers. Hotline contacts go unanswered for days at a time. There is more too it but don't want to make people yawn with what dealers have to do on the back side.

For what it's worth If you like your bronco keep it and ask for an ESP or maintenance contract, I bet you get that easily. The buy back, even though it's been in the shop, it is a vehicle that isn't down because of the issue but because you aren't picking it up and Ford is still agreeing to foot the bill for the rental which regardless of how hard you fought for it you got it.

The buyback/lemon law process isn't a peach either...takes forever and you don't get what you paid for your vehicle and whatever goodies you have on it, many don't know that so in the end they will give you fair market value, most won't be happy with that and end up keeping it or selling it on their own.

Ask them for an ESP IMO, you get more flies with honey than vinegar. I get it, we all paid good money for our stuff. I am not saying settle but if you like it, keep it...you never know if the next one will be perfect either.
