So I got notice that my Bronco has shipped. I get excited and go review my window sticker only to notice issue.

Seems I didn't read the fine print and ordered a Base Squatch and DIDN'T add the 2.7 engine. I, for the life of me thought it came standard with the Squatch package.

Now I'm having second thoughts about not having enough torque.

Did I screw up?

You’ll be fine. I drove a 2.3MT with 4.46 gears and true 35’s. Didn’t thrust me in my seat but then I wasn’t expecting it too. People here are saying the AT is quicker than the MT. I can’t say on the 2.3 but the 2.7 AT with Squatch was definitely quicker.

I’d just be happy if I were you. I’m hoping I’m still alive by the time I get mine :cool:

As long as you plan on doing towing I think you will be good, the big gears from the sas will help it out a ton.

But worst case scenario if you don't like it, take delivery and order another one and trade it in when it comes lol

You'll be fine. The 2.3 is a solid engine and has some punch.

thats hearty V8 power when compared to a 90s vehicle.

you are good.

You wont take down a RS4 but you have like 300lbs more rotating MASS even if everyhting else was the same.

Yeah, that kinda burns, but you could refuse it and get a 22. But that being said we have waited a year for this thing.
If i were you, i would drive it for a while and decide if you love it or not. Sell it or trade it on all
the things you have learned while you have it.

I would take it, put in a new order and then trade in the first one for more than what you paid for it. Make sure you order from a big dealer so you can get the second one before us day one reservation holders.

I have the 2.3L in my Ranger Tremor running on 33s (fine, 32.5s). It's zippy. Ford offers a tune for the Ranger 2.3L that boosts it up to where its just about on par with the 2.7L. I would expect the same tune to be for the Bronco, and its under a grand at your dealership (for the Ranger).

You are BARELY missing the factory specs for the 2.7L with numbers like that, and mine ended up slightly better. Its a 50ft/lb of torque lost, but thats not much in the grand scheme.

So no real loss, other than waiting for the tune to be released. After market will see much better numbers as well.

On top of that, I don't think we will be able to tune the 2.7L very much before it becomes a liability for the transmission.. so I dont expect the 2.7 guys to get too much ahead of the numbers seen with that tune.

You can make a lot more power with a tune on the 2.3, remember, it's a 400cc difference... that's not that significant, especially when you consider that way back in 2002, I made 642 HP to the wheel on a 2.0 liter Honda motor. How much power are you going to need?

Actually, I think that you are going to be surprised on this... A lot of it is going to depend on the transmission temps and the actual abuse vs use.
