Are there any factors other than build configuration that may affect wait time?

I.e. Dealerships make money in financing their vehicles as opposed to when people pay cash. Could that influence them processing orders?

The biggest factors besides build configuration are commodity constraints, dealer allocations, dealer assigned priority, number or orders in the dealer's order bank--at least that's my understanding....how it's getting paid for isn't a factor. My dealer didn't even ask if I planned to buy/lease, pay cash or finance.

Dealers have no input on what Ford schedules. For normal cars (like say a Mustang) the dealer can tell Ford which orders are prioritized, but that really only matters in vehicles that come from the same factory. So if you have 4 Mustang orders the dealer can use the 10-19 priority numbers to prioritize one over another.

But, a car from a different factory won't bump priority over a higher number, so an Explorer with a priority of 17 could get delivered before an F-150 with a priority of 12.

The #1 thing you can do to get built faster is to order a 4-door soft top. That has been true since the first day of production.

The #2 thing would be to avoid a really small dealership with great service and communication.

My dealer emailed me proactively for the first time since I placed my order saying they have no update but that if I wish to cancel, please let them know.

Seems like an indication my build may arrive soon and they're fishing for inventory to mark up.
