Our club has officially 'adopted' one of the trails up in the mountains, which heads to Eagle Lake. We have been given approval from the National Forestry Service to maintain the trail and campsites along the way, including trash pickup, picking up down branches and moving obstacles along the path. Yesterday was our first official trail and campsite cleanup of the year. We had 14 Broncos show up, which helped make light work of the cleanup efforts. This was the most 'challenging' trail I've done so far, which involved some rocks, water crossings and mud. Part of the trail we're assigned to is actually part of Fordyce Trail, a well-known trail for Jeepers. We had a fantastic day, the weather was perfect, our Broncos handled the trails well, and the scenery was amazing. Knowing we were helping to improve the quality of the trail for others who were going to enjoy it was the best part. I ended up picking up a number of empty beer bottles, trash, food wrappers, bungee cords, a broken axle shaft and a bottle of Fireball "whisky" (that garbage doesn't deserve to be called whisky). We all have the opportunity to be ambassadors for the off-roading community by setting the example - not leaving trash behind is step 1.

Excellent work, one of my favorite trails in the winter close to home.

Great job doing the job that shouldn't have to be done, but sadly is.
Upkeep is one thing.
Being the cleanup crew to others' neglect or disrespect is another.
But glad the Forestry service allowed you guys to police and maintain it yourself.
Back East we get some pushback from time to time, or outright "no thanks", which is a bummer.
Mainly on trails that are contested status of remaining open or outright being pursued to be closed for good. (and what you all are "fixing" is one of the main drivers behind the closures)

Beautiful scenery, really cool diverse sections of terrain.
And of course, always a fan of Audioslave. Shadow on the Sun is a seriously overlooked and underrated jam.

You are all clearly having too much fun. Mad respect for those that recognize the importance of giving back and getting your hands dirt doing it.
thanks! we are so fortunate to have these amazing trails within a couple hours of where we live, and it's everyone's responsibility to keep them clean so we can all continue to enjoy them for decades to come :) Not to mention, hanging out with a great group of people and enjoying the scenery while doing the cleanup :)

Believe it or not...in Maine "Fireball" just last year replaced Allen's Coffee Brandy as the highest selling spirit in the state! Piss poor excuse for any spirit let alone whiskey!

Good deal, nothing worse than seeing trash everywhere out in the wilderness!

BTW if you like cinnamon whiskey but not crap, take a bottle of cheap stuff (Evan Williams BIB is excellent for little money), put 2-3 cinnamon sticks in and a red chili. Take the chili out after a few days (when spicy to taste) and leave the sticks in and you've got an excellent cinnamon whiskey without chemicals.

Sometimes (I don't make it often) I'll also dissolve some sugar in by heating up a a half cup or so of the booze and melting sugar in, then pouring that back in. It doesn't need much, if any.
