I would make sure to reinforce the area with some extra ties to the top members and maybe sister some taller beams along that run. our house was built in 2015 and you can tell a heavy load was not meant to be hung from the ceiling...or at least I would want some more structural beef in any area I did put a load.

I use this Harbor Freight chain hoist for RTT when not in use

Anyone with any experience or recommendation?

I have a couple of ceiling mounted bike racks from The Container Store:
https://www.containerstore.com/s/ga...eiling-mount-bike-lift/12d?productId=11003969

Thoughts on possible converting these for the Bronco hardtop?
Don't try to avoid spending $175 on a Harken hoist. The cheap ones are not rated for the load of the hardtop. Trying to save $150 may destroy a $2,000 hardtop.

Signed, and engineer who has designed several different load bearing hoists.

it's not a 1 piece hard top. Might be better to mount on wall than ceiling

The harken is awesome and if it can handle the wrangler top (which it can well) it should easily handle the bronco top from what we've seen. It's easy to open up the box for the harken and say Man I could have built this for less than 30 bucks in parts, but the fact that it is properly engineered and, if you go step by step, easy to install, makes it worth it. I went round and round myself but glad I just bought the harken

I still don't think we'll need to hang it like we did for the FSB top, those were heavy and 1 piece. This is going to be a lot more manageable and we'll have more options than just ceiling hang

I repair 1-2 garages every year because of top lifts ( or ceiling shelves) being hung without extra support.
