Signed, and engineer who has designed several different load bearing hoists.
Aren't all hoists, by definition, load bearing?

Signed, construction guy who will never waste an opportunity to poke at an engineer :p

I like this Harken Hoister shown on this Jeep. Hope it's just as easy on the Bronco.
This is actually kind of cool and my garage is stupid high so it could work very well.

Poke away, the answer is no. The hoist is rated to lift a certain number of pounds, some may call it "load rated" but that just means the hoist can lift that much weight...

IF, IT IS ATTACHED TO A LOAD RATED STRUCTURE that is designed for the that weight.

Hang a 500, 1,000, 2,000 pound Harbor Freight Hoist from the attic joists in the standard garage at your house to lift the engine out of your car, power up, and watch the ceiling joists and roof collapse onto your car.

Hang the same hoist from a steel girder in a commercial building, that is Load Rated for your choosen Hoist Lifting Capabilty, and you will now have no problems pulling the engine.

Ha. Engineers. So serious.

Both the hoist and the steel (or whatever) must be load rated.

I do like the pully setup and for under 200 that might be what I do instead.

North7, when we actually get our broncos I think a great thread from an engineer standpoint is what to reinforce to hold the weight.

I am holding off running some POE cable for a ubiquiti outdoor camera to maximize my attic time.

I have one of these, works on my 2 door and the wife 4 door Jeep hard tops. I would assume given the dimensions for the Bronco it should work for that as well.

Reviving this thread to see if there have been any solutions for the middle roof section and the back section of the MIC top. My wife is barely tall enough to help me lift either section over the top of the Bronco so a 2 part lift solution that I can operate myself looks like the best scenario.
