Ceramic coatings are great, but like everyone else said, they are not a replacement for PPF. I ceramic coatings on my street cars and love them.

If ya want protection then find a reputable shop that does PPF. You have time NOW to do your homework ask around in your home town.

If ya want a vehicle that always looks wet & shiny as a polished mirror then apply Ceramic Coating. I do. I use the winner in this video as well as several of my car guy friends.

Ford installed PPF on a small area forward of the rear lower wheel well of the the 2008 Taurus X we had. The Florida heat/sun were not too kind to the film and it discolored and cracked. We ended up trading it in before I started the project of removing. It did test remove a small area, it was very brittle and would have been very difficult to remove.

I’m sure the film has improved, but the experience has me very cautious about an OEM product.

What areas should be covered? I'm considering full PPF but contemplating if worth doing the rear portion since not prone to rock chips.

it will do a decent job on the leading edges that tend to get sandblasted. the ford version looks to be fairly inexpensive

expect to pay a lot more than 300$ for a premium PPF with more coverage. fwiw, the premium PPF job on my vw was ~3.5X more expensive.

i have no idea why this can't be optioned for squatch vehicles.

I currently have a bug shield on the hood and PPF on the bottoms of my doors/rockers to prevent rock chips from my tires kicking them up. My running boards and mud flaps offer the best protection for that, however. I like detailing and PPF sort of gets in the way of that, so I try to limit PPF film and use other means to protect the paint as I described

PPF is Great but find a top installer that will wrap the edges and not show and seams.

It's MUCH more expensive to get afterwards and works well if a car or semi kicks a rock up on the highway. The leading edges are the most hit area for rocks and bugs. Well, and the windshield. The 3M type I saw on new Nissans looked as good quality as one could hope. I'm getting it.

If you got a mall crawler don’t get it, if you are, sure but if you read description it only covers about 3 pieces not the whole car soooo ima
Say no
I can't disagree with you any more. Don't even know where to start.

I still have the PPF from Ford on my 2012 F150. They put small sections of it on the rear quarter panel to protect rock chips from the rear tires I assume. The PPF did its job. Course that was from 2012...

Title is self-explanatory.

Should I spend money on this?
Yes. Once you get rock chips you'll regret not getting them. You can also wait until 3M makes their own clear bra and you can probably do it yourself for half the cost. That's my plan.
