I was able to get some shots of what I was told was Area 51 and AMB in partial shade and sun simultaiaimusly.

As anyone that has worked with paint, watched TV car resto-mod shows, or just observed the walls of their living room knows, paint “flops” in different light.

There’s the way that a particular camera picks up the colors and the way that our monitors display that color. So, no picture on this site can truly display an absolutely accurate depiction of any particular color.

However, these pictures may help to show how the color shifts on the same vehicle, at the same time, in shade and sun, with the same camera on your monitor.

Sorry. I tried to post them all in one but I was having trouble getting it done. I’ve done it before on other forums

AMB looks really dark, almost black in shadow. You can see that in sun the AMB has hints of medium blue-green, even purple.

Obviously, you have to see it in person but I hoped to show the the difference of light and shade in a single shot.

Nice but the Sport isn't AMB, think it's called Altus Blue.

Ah, dang. Thanks for pointing that out.

That‘s why I said that, “I was told...”

I asked the sales guys. There’s no they could be wrong could they??

They didn’t have full window stickers. It just said ”Not for sale yet“.

AMB looks great, reminds me of BMW Carbon black a little bit which was my favorite BMW color. Sadly, for me getting a heavy metallic paint for a vehicle I plan to slam through tree branches doesn't make sense.

My wife thinks that she wants AMB from the build and price page. She likes tough looking suv’s like her Xterra. I like blacked out luxury sport coupe/sedans. Bright colored clothes and paint look fine for others but just isn’t right for me.

I’m hoping that she wants AMB when she sees it in person. If it’s as dark as people say, even way darker Alto Blue, I’ll feel better about driving it.

@lowmpg I get that when off roading your paint gets thrashed and dark metallic paint really shows it. What color do you think is best for you?

I love the "idea" of AMB, but in real life I have a very hard time seeing any blue in it, even when parked next to a black truck.
The idea being something like GM & BMW's "Black Sapphire".
The rain shots I took were the best I have seen it, otherwise it just looks black.

Smart thinking there. Good job on the pics. As @ZackDanger said, captures what is seen in person very well, even for PC screens' adaptation of color.
