Strange issue. I don’t know when it started happening, but the Passenger front door requires a hard slam to close. I lowered the window all the way down, and I don’t have to slam it. I put the window up about 1/4 of the way its still fine no slam required…I hit the 1/2 way point of window rolled up it requires a hard slam to close. This is repeatable.

I tried comparing the window door gaskets on each side, I don’t see anything obvious that would prevent it from closing with out a slam when the window is all the way up and closed.

So what do we think the issue is?

BTW, I called the service department at Galpin here is SoCal where I bought the Bronco, and the service advisor said bring it in, when I went to schedule, they said waiting list for service and can’t schedule me. This is why I avoid the dealer, if I can get a TSB on what the fix is I would do it myself. First time Ford owner here, not impressed with my local service department. Is anyone else having service delays and waiting lists for fixes? I mean what the is the point for a warranty If service takes so long.

You might need to reset the window. The frameless windows can “malfunction” and not go up all the way when you close the door if you inadvertently press up and down in a certain sequence. Not 100% sure if this is your issue…but if it is here is how to reset it.
After window is down hold button in down position for 5 seconds. Then push button to go up and once up hold for 5 seconds.

This is exactly what's going on with mine. I could be wrong but this is what I think is going on:

My suspicion is that the window is angled too far inward (towards the center of the car) and the window is hitting the seals before the latch gets a chance to fully catch, so you need to slam it when the window is up.

I haven't had a chance to do this yet, but I think if you adjust the angle of the window to bring it more outward using the adjustment bolts on the door, it should allow the door latch to engage before the window gets in the way.

To make the adjustment, follow what this comment or video say but you probably want to slide the bolts slightly inward instead of outward (inward brings the window out, outward brings the window in).

Again, I haven't tried any of this yet but from what I could tell from my car, I'm pretty sure this could fix it. Let me know if this works for you when you try it, it's something I've been putting off for a while now but I should try doing it one day.

This is a door closing issue not window rolling up, it rolls up fine, it just will not close without a hard slam when it’s more than 1/4 way up.

I had the “window” issue on back passenger door and was able to fix that, I know how it happened. I continually was thinking I was rolling up drivers when it was the passenger And got it out of sync.

Anyone that has a door closing issue without a hard slam, should try with the window all the way down and see if it closes normally.

Open the door and roll the window up and down and monitor what the door latch inside the door is doing. It may be moving based on window positioning, making it more difficult to catch the striker bolt.

Sounds worth a shot I may need to move mine in the opposite direction perhaps

I will try this first, is there a latch adjustment screw?

Keep me updated if you try it out. Also, do you feel more tension in your front passenger door latch as well when you open the door from the outside? Like there's greater tension on the latch compared to the others? Mine is like this as well, probably because the seals around the window are putting an outward pressure on the door.

Not sure about adjusting the latch inside the door, but keep in mind that if you adjust the latch it could also affect how flush that door panel is with the others. I tried adjusting my striker plate a while ago to fix this but I didn't like that the door panel was no longer as flush with the others.

Here are some videos of my passenger vs driver doors. Notice how much easier it is to open/close the driver door than the passenger.

This is exactly the same issue I have if you roll the window all the way down does it go away?

You guys need to reach out to Galpin Ford Service In CA. They are your biggest dealer in SoCal, they would not even schedule an appointment for me, nor has the service manager returned my call. I was also told the recall for the seatbelt was not being done and all this just left me to post to the wonderful forum crew.

As a first time Ford owner I am very disappointed and glad I did not pay for an extended Ford warranty,, even though it seems it will be needed, the service is just terrible and I haven’t even been at Galpin yet for any service!

Yeah if I roll it down a bit/all the way it opens/closes just fine. I'm hoping to try adjusting the window this weekend to see if it helps.

Well, I finally got around to adjusting the window angle, and unfortunately it didn't help with the door. If you find a fix for this please let me know
