Per the TFL Truck video, here's the door sticker label showing payload of 895 lbs on the 2025 Trailhunter 4Runner

Pathetically low.

After two adults that is around 555 pounds.

Plus if you tow anything you have to take into account the tongue weight eating into pay load.

Keep in mind this is still an early prototype, the final numbers may be different. Also, the TH comes pretty loaded, some people may not need much 3rd party mods after.

Trailhunter with 895 lbs payload - how would you have people, stuff, and tow a small camper (like 410 hitch weight + people + stuff > 895).

I am somewhat perplexed on this one. If the new Landcruiser is using the same exact frame, axles, suspension, and powertrain as the 2025 4Runner and Tacoma, why then is its payload so much higher at 1600 lbs?

This thread posted over the weekend at Tacoma4g shows that the door sticker payload figures should be ignored.

https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...els-curb-weights-gvwr-payload-published.4194/

The final official payload figures published by Toyota are higher for the 2024 Tacoma than listed on their door stickers. Seems like they just picked a random number for the door sticker for whatever reason.

Those numbers seem more in line with the LS. Hopefully the 4Runner will also be updated to reflect the same.

My 2016 Accord has a payload of 850 pounds so I'm guessing these figures aren't accurate.

Payload on the 2024 LS 1958 edition is 1100lbs not confirmed. Assuming the higher trims will get less payload.
So maybe the 4Runner Trailhunter we have seen on YouTube is not incorrect at 895lbs.

Iā€™m confused, isnā€™t the payload just GVWR minus curb weight?

On Toyota.com the iForce Max LCā€™s show 6725 and 5037.5 lbs. Would that not put its payload at 1688lbs? Why would it be limited to 1100lbs?

Softness of suspension can apparently affect payload ratings.
The payload of a vehicle depends on several factors, including:

1. Vehicle Design and Structure:

- The design and construction of the SUV, including the materials used in the frame and body, significantly impact its payload capacity. Vehicles built with stronger, more durable materials can typically support a higher payload.

- The configuration of the SUV's chassis and suspension systems also plays a crucial role. Heavy-duty suspensions and reinforced frames can handle greater loads.

2. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR):

- The GVWR is the maximum total weight of the vehicle, including its own weight and everything it carries (passengers, cargo, fuel, etc.). Payload capacity is determined by subtracting the vehicle's curb weight (the weight of the vehicle without any passengers or cargo) from its GVWR.

3. Engine and Drivetrain:

- The power and torque output of the SUV's engine, along with the efficiency of its drivetrain, influence its ability to carry additional weight. More powerful engines and robust drivetrains can handle higher payloads without compromising performance.

4. Tire Load Rating:

- The load rating of the tires used on the SUV determines how much weight each tire can safely support. Upgrading to higher-rated tires can increase the vehicle's payload capacity.

5. Weight Distribution and Balance:

- Proper weight distribution within the vehicle is essential for maintaining stability and handling. Manufacturers design SUVs with specific weight distribution guidelines to ensure safety and performance under load.

6. Suspension and Axle Ratings:

- The ratings of the suspension components and axles are critical. Stronger axles and suspension systems can support greater loads, thereby increasing the vehicle's payload capacity.
