So if you have android auto and carplay capability in the bronco, why do you need to be able to see your phone? (seriously, I'm curious)
Read the post right above yours. Lol and I feel like if you ask this then you have never had apple or android CarPlay.

With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto why do people still want their phones mounted? Mine goes in a cubby and I don’t touch it because I don’t need to, all the functionality is on screen.
Ok did everyone just say the same thing here and not read? Yes CarPlay is great but it is far from doing all functions of the phone on a screen. Example someone emails you address or info and you want to copy that to gps or waze. Pod cast selection is so much better on the phone to select. Just a few things that make it nice to have the phone up. Also like I said before if the phone is in a “cubby” I will jump out and forget the phone in the car every time, that’s just me I guess from reading all of you guys posts. Or maybe I’m just in and out of my cars more.

I like the out of the box thinking but I don't want to look down at my phone. I'm either going to mount it to my accessory rail on dash or just use Android Auto.

I originally got the arm to make it go on the dash. But every which way I looked at it either blocked my line of sight or blocked the the screen. I’m looking forward to seeing how people use that dash mount because I don’t see how it won’t take up half the windshield

So I was looking for ways to get a magnet mount right in the area by the cup holder. Out of my line of sight but not where I can’t see it at all. Here is what I came up with. Drilled 2 holes in the grab handle and tapped the alum to m6 and used stainless button head Allen screws. The blueish carbon bar looks perfect. And a wing nut and it can be moved around.

Um no. Apple CarPlay or android auto makes phone mounts obsolete.

I just don’t see why you would want to block your line of sight. The windshield is so small already anything up on the dash is just blocking your view.
Am I the only one that feels that way when driving the bronco?
I think you have a very valid point, the windo is very narrow. I purchased a BYOD rail, I will have to see how obstructive mounting a phone or other device is up there. Then again by the time I get my bronco there will be thouseands of memebers that will have done this. LOL.

They are like 8mm. I’ll can pull one and check. I thought about just getting a threaded ball for there. I also figure someone will make a handle replacement of of billet or a rail for that area. Most people that handle isn’t used much.
That would work well. Then just get 2 of these: https://twistedthrottle.com/shop/el...l-base-with-m8-1-25-pitch-male-threaded-post/

Could use one to mount my gmrs radio and another for my ham radio.

Edit: The M8 bolts do not fit in the grab handle slot, too big.
Quick update the M8 ram balls do not fit. The threading seems correct but it is too thick. Perhaps the M6 will fit.
