Manual transmission as I have not been reduced to a vacant eyed, mouth breather sitting in the left lane with the cruise set at the limit. Not yet anyway (and my knees still mostly work, so I can physically operate it) Fun truck needs a fun transmission. To those that feel the need to rationalize the automatic, seriously... think about it. You are having to rationalize getting the automatic. (if your eyes roll back in your head and you drool over the thought of an autobox while shaking with pleasure, I urge you to seek professional help as it is beyond what the forum can help you with.)

I would like to hear the explanation for going 2.3 Auto. I just don't understand...
Mine only guess would be that is what's standard on the OBX. I don't know.

1) More power
2) resale value
3) avoiding the sideways glaring and raised eyebrows when I say my Badlands Bronco w/35” tires is powered by a mighty 4 cylinder (this 4 cylinder could be the greatest engine in the planet but the stigma of a 4-banger, is tough to un-do).

I have reserved the Wildtrak . . . but would go with the 2.7 regardless. My Dad has the 2.3 in his Ranger and it's peppy as hell - but after having Raptors for the last decade I want all I can get in terms of HP and torque and all of the 2.7's I have driven in F150's have seemed outstanding . . . quicker than the Coyote out of the box. No-brainer for me.

Well, I do a lot of driving on paved road. I don't need the power but I own a v6 and if I have it in going to use it.

some people will choose that combo for fuel economy. There was a thread a guy started talking about overland builds, and his powertrain choice was the 2.3l 10spd auto. He was going this route for the fuel economy and so his wife could take turns driving on long road trips.

Would it be silly to get a Badlands with Lux interior package and a 4 cylinder manual transmission?

2.7 auto here. Although I like driving manual trans cars, it'll be my wife's daily driver. For $300 over the 2.3 auto it's a no brainier. MPG loss probably won't be very significant. For sure an improvement over the JK 3.6 with the 5 speed auto.

2.7 w/auto, why?, bad knees with bad hip do not go well with a clutch pedal besides been there done that with a manual. I left foot break and find it to be alot better at control in tight spots.
