I think if they're going to do the V8, then they should probably do a redesign in general of the Bronco, perhaps a through back to the 1980's version now and move on from the 60's retro version. Thing about V8's, they add even more weight. Not sure if that is a good thing for a mid-sized frame? While I've seen the video reviews of the 392 Wrangler and all of the fanfare for it, I've also seen comments about how its weight changes the handling and sense of stability factor for the Wrangler's overall size, not in a good way.

I would also add that I don't think too many companies are going to retool for what is likely a temporary rollback on regulation. Given how widely and quickly our leadership pendulum keeps swinging back and forth every 48 months, nothing really surprises me anymore with the federal government. Heck, Hunter Biden could be president next at this rate. I'd prefer Charlie Sheen (Charlie Harper) though, if I'm to be honest!

I too dig the 3.0 tt v6 esp with the fp tune. I like its intake howl and rev happy nature with the manual shift action. little to no lag from a dig and mid. bravo fp!

color me crazy, but American v8s and amg v8s do nothing for me aurally. it just sounds brodozer obnoxious out in public. sounds dated, old, a relic of the past. zero interest in a bronco raptor r unless they make further improvements in sus/chassis setup to stuff 39/13.5s.

the real interesting discussion is how poorly the braptor is selling compared to the new lexus/toyota trucks that have flooded social media. technically, the braptor annihilates the competition. triple locked. 37s. 13.1" ground clearance. up to 14" of suspension travel. reinforced and strengthened frame, suspension, steering rack, bearings, axles, everything durability tested by ford's very best engineers.

the ineos grenadier can only wish upon a star. G wagon rodeo dr buyer wouldn't be caught dead in anything but. new defender types are plastics. just nobody comes close in a rather broad msrp mid sized suv range.

being marketed as a Baja racer rather than overlanding vehicle puts it in a very niche spot. all the benefits of handling insane terrain at any speed can be readily enjoyed in the cityscape.

it's a massive value at market price. again bravo fp!

Given braptor sales are far less then ford hoped, esp after increasing msrp, the market for it is probably way to small.
Come on now, that is speculation. Their production numbers are next to impossible to get (Raptor specifically) and knowing their internal sales forecasts during development is even harder to know. Sure, we can learn something about this based on the huge ramp up in inventory from data from cars.com, etc., but that's hardly your specific claim.

I trust that does NOT include various phenomenal America V8s such as those in the Mustang GT350 and the unreal LT6 crossplane V8 in the Z06 Vette?

That said, I definitely agree that many American V8s, in factory spec, sound terrible.

Not into the GT350 noise whatsoever. I can get down with the LT6, but would never open the wallet even with your $2.5K in my pocket.

In the case of the Raptor marketing, form follows function. While it can do overlanding, I believe it is not optimal for that application. Conversely, it is purpose built for high speed Baja (and does exceptionally well at rock crawling too). So, it was never a choice between marketing overlanding vs. desert running (and jumping!).

There's alot to be said of the instant low end torque of a V8. Even more important is the simplicity of a naturally aspirated engine. We're all going to be replacing our turbos at some point.
I have a gen 1 raptor with 208,000 miles, no engine issues EVER, runs like a top and accelerates to 60 mph much easier than my 3.0 ( both are tuned ) purrs like a kitten with the borla exaust.
There's NO way, my braptor will make 200k without major engine repairs.... just the nature of trying to get more from less.

Ha, funny, I see you are still in abundant denial of and in conflict with very basic physics. Keep up the good fight :cwl:. Keep wasting your money on useless carbon fiber too...

I definitely would enjoy the sound of it vs. the 3.0TT but I suspect it would require substantial modification to the existing driveline and suspension to properly handle the power. The current Raptor spins the rear tires regularly in 2WD and it almost certainly would need to be full-time 4WD and the shorter wheelbase would likely make it Viper-like tail happy even with the best chassis tuning.

What's more useless may well be your quantity 3 advanced degrees you love to shout out voluntarily online to strangers.

The struggle to find the Braptor's diff drain plug. Keep advancing, bud. 🥰

If a proper 90° crank V8 sounds terrible to you, then you're the type of person that asks your wife's boyfriend for permission to speak at the dinner table.

They at the very least need to come out with a swap kit through Ford Performance. Similar to what dodge did before discontinuing the challenger.

Hey All,

Now that CARB and CAFE are effectivley gone and emissions standards are rolled back what do you guys think is the possibility of seeing a Bronco Raptor R with a 5.0L or 5.2L V8 in the near future? Seeing that Stellantis is bringing back their V8 line up for the charger and wrangler, bringing back the Ram TRX, and now hinting of offering the 6.4L hemi and possibly 5.7 for the Gladiator. I would think that it would be a good move for Ford a V8 version of the Bronco and possibly the Ranger as well since it looks like the competition is stepping up their game with the revival of the hemi across their entire lineup.

Just as easily as its going away it could come back. it wasn't just a Democrat thing. And most car makers prefer as sure of a thing as possible. They spent billions on research and development over decades to get to where they are now, i don't they would make changes to that kind of investment just because of who is in office at any particular moment. Stellantis is a different story, they built their entire image on horsepower and sound. They really only sold Pickups, Jeeps and two muscle cars. I never count the minivan and Durango.

Always wrong, details and primary issues.

I do not have, not do I boast about any of my degrees. Only 1 is advanced. Funny thing - an enormous amount of my school and work experience is entirely relevant to vehicle dynamics and engineering. It's called relevant expertise. You obviously, by your own admission, have none.

As to the diff plug, you might be aware how many forum members also missed this? Why - obviously, it's in a totally non standard spot. That would be obvious to you if you ever serviced any of your own diffs.

Keep reaching, you won't find anything as damning and embarrassing in my history as your massively overpriced, carbon fiber fenders on a Bronco.
