novice 'handyman' here.
wondering if it was possible to tie-in to the side zone lighting (puddle lights from the bottom of the side view mirrors)?

i was thinking about adding KC Hilites cyclone lights in my wheel wells and thought it would be very useful to tie these into the zone lighting buttons.
also, noticed someone was asking if there was a way to keep these on at speeds over 5mph (feels like a forscan thing). thx.

I asked the same question but for rocklights. Doesn't seem a lot of people know the answer. I was just going to look at the door harness and figure out the correct wire for the puddle lights and then find a place to tap into it. Don't have my Bronco, yet, though.

Cyclones 5w each so I would think about how many of these you want to use. I would prob consider using a relay to offload the draw.

I looked into it some more. The zone lighting only works in parked. So not really useful for rock lights.

finally installed my KC Cyclones. Put them on upfitter switch #3. Did a video:

The rock lights I have have an extra wire to tie into perimeter lighting, so they can come on as a white light when I hit unlock on the fob or autostart. Lights would be powered off the battery and I think the extra wire just triggers a relay in the control module for the rock lights. I went with the infinite off road rock lights.

I'm going the opposite route, someday, due to the 5mph limit.

When I decide what lights I want and wire them to an aux switch, it should be easy enough to run a wire (and diode to prevent backfeed) to each puddle light from that circuit. Puddle lights at any time

Unless of course the puddle lights are like the dimmable domes and are on a modulated circuit.... Then that's a whole nother can of worms. Crud, now I want to go outside and see whether they come on instantly or are "dimmable".

That’s actually a good idea. I don’t believe they are dimmable.

@flip was nice enough to pass this on (wiring diagram to side mirrors) before I decided not to do it.

maybe it’ll help someone here.

Anyone find a way to allow the mirror lights to stay on at a higher MPH? They are pretty useless even from factory. The only use I've found is lighting up my mailbox when I check my mail when its dark...not the most effective use of them.

Bumping this... Trying to wire rock lights so they 1) come on automatically with puddle lamps on mirrors and 2) can also be triggered independently by an aux switch.

Similar to @Diode Dynamics backup lights, where they tie in to the taillights, but can also be bypassed using the aux.

What rock lights did you get?
