I own a '22 GX and a '24 Bronco; I live in the Northeast and I do mainly highway driving. My prior ride was a BMW X6 Dinan.. so I understand the dichotomy between a luxury SUV vs Off Road - I food habe easily afforded a Raptor but sorry , over 85-90k for what is the same box of rattles and wind noise that is my OBX. 4 months old, I have 13,000 miles already on my OBX.. the new GX off road is quite capable but it's also pretty huge to go rock hopping... so how much hopping you doing. I've been off road in the Catskills and my OBX kept up but for me it's overall ride experience ... and value and resale... Lexus wins on all.. yeah I know this is a fan club of Raptor owners; and honestly it's a totally different ownership experience but since it was the first time seeing these two compared the last thing to consider is service .. I kind a like my Lexus is valeted for service; I got a note from Ford offering same ; sure with a 4 month wait... I see badlands loaded up as a way better value... look at % resales across the Bronco space .. good luck with the decision .. ya could compromise and pick up a used Raptor; not many GX's out there yet
I’ve owned a 4 door OBX SAS, and a 2 door Badlands SAS. I can objectively say that neither of these, while they were amazing vehicles, are in the same class as a Braptor. It’s a completely different animal. Literally, the only thing they share is the name plate.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it’s going to be my daily but I’m 15 minutes from work so no biggie. We have two cars as I recently bought my wife a new ‘24 Sante Fe hybrid which she loves. So, for any distance driving we take it.

For me, now that I‘m 53 and am not dead yet, I do prefer an automobile that stirs the soul. I want to have fun and as an auto enthusiast, my fear is that the GX550 will be boring in comparison. Granted, and as you’ve mentioned, upstate NY is not an overland rich community but I may have some adventures in roads never ventured before. Plus, I can travel to some off-road events as well.
You know, if it's your daily but work is relatively close (and parking spots are wide, haha), plus you know you can use your Santa Fe Hybrid for trips where it makes more sense as the car to take (and probably actually has more interior volume than the Bronco), I wouldn't hesitate to go for it either.

My EV6 GT is probably honestly a bit smaller than I'd like since it can't serve that well as a "family hauler" for vacations (which is what our 4Runner did), but I'm hoping I can make a Bronco work fine with a roof box on it (once I throw a rack up top) in most use cases including ski trips. My Kia is just leased for a couple more years also and then I can swap into something bigger (maybe an upcoming EV9 GT or Ioniq 9), so I figure I can survive.

The Bronco would give you the ability to take some incredible, memorable vacations out west to places like Moab and Ouray if you're willing (and able) to take a couple of weeks off to do the drive each way. I honestly partially went for the Bronco since we love hiking but my youngest kid just turned 3 in August. He's at that miserable point where you cannot really backpack carry him anymore, but he also won't walk more than maybe 0.5 to 1 miles right now easily. Thus we figure we'll actually focus some trips this coming year or two around offroading. Did Toroweap in GCNP earlier this year finally in Northern Arizona and had a blast (look it up if you've never heard of it).

Then go BRaptor.

My wife, after 25 years of driving minivans, saw the Bronco (OBX) and had to have it. Call it a mid lilfe crisis; I call it stirring the soul. And it still does that.

EDIT: superb choice!

You will have to add several thousand dollars to the Lexus purchase for the parts and labor to cut the doors and roof off.
I know this is meant to be a joke ( and I laughed ), but if I had known - if I could’ve FELT - how good it is to run around topless, I would have been in a Jeep years ago! Don’t discount how much fun an afternoon with top off is in our Bronco’s, pure joy!!!
