Hopeful someone has experienced a similar problem. I am doing a handle cover replacement on my Bronco. All of the covers went on without an issue except the drivers side handle. I have the new covers set properly, but when I try and reconnect the handle to the latch it won’t grab. If I try and tighten the 5 mm bolt it just pushes the handle further out. Any recommendations before I have to take the door apart?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry I can't answer your question. Plan to swap my door handles too, but haven't seen any threads of how to remove and reinstall. If you time I would really appreciate any information and guidance on your install, and any fix to your problem.

You may have to get some small picks and open the jaws. I had taken mine off and 2 went in by applying pressure and turning the 5mm bolt. The other two I had to open the jaws and then follow the procedure.

Follow the videos others posted. I ended up stripping the mechanism when I did mine and had to get it replaced at the dealer.

This was very helpful. Need to get a hook, but looks like the step I’m missing on this one. Thanks!!

Got it latched in. That last video did the trick with the hook tool. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

did you end up stripping that 5mm screw? I did. How much did the dealer charge to replace and fix this?
