PSA: Soft Top Down When Entering Garage

I love this family and their new Bronco videos. They are informative and passionate about their new toy. I also like that they don't take themselves too seriously.
They have done videos on wind noise, stereo upgrades, wheel and tire upgrades, and a couple other things. Last night they posted a mishap with the soft top in the half open position and a garage door - you get the picture.
We have all done stupid things, so please don't be too harsh, but I thought it was a good reminder to all of us. Enjoy the series if you have some time.

I felt so bad watching it but the first thing that popped into my head was, why not deflate the tires to lower it a few inches to get it freed?

They have to have some fat neighbours they could bring over to sit in to help compress the suspension too!

Hadn't even thought of this. I have realized that if I've got my top down in the garage and it's pouring down rain I have to pull out to put the top up. But I hadn't even considered having the top half way down. And since I'll back in I would for sure wreck it forever.

No way I'm going to say anything bad. I had an offroad truck that fit fine as long as I took the antenna mount off (think massive block of aluminum). Yep, had that one time I forgot. The truck suspension compressed enough to fit into the opening then proceeded to push the door backwards off the track.

Stinks they hurt their top.

It can be done on my JK, if I am between the garage door tracks with the garage door closed.

I was thinking either drop air press and or undo the whole top and slide it off.

No judgement here. I was backing out of the garage in our 09 Fusion 3-4yrs ago and was looking in the mirror behind me and hit the driver side mirror on the garage. It did not crack or break...it exploded...LOL. The glass shattered into a ton of pieces, the painted cover broke in two and shot to the front of the garage, the mirror frame/inner working just broke and went all floppy.

We all do something stupid. Thanks for sharing and hope others learn from this.

And it’s why I’ll never have a roof bicycle rack…a buddy of mine had one and went under a low rail overpass. Full length sky roof on minivan shattered and bike bounced onto road but survived. Rack, not so much.
