Rack Alignment With Crossbars

So, with the OEM rails, the crossbar locations are not adjustable - there are a couple of places to mount them, but they can't be adjusted. So.... I bought an inexpensive cargo rack for a trip just to carry stuff like gasoline and dirty rescue boards and such on a road trip and the bars don't line up for mounting.

Another thing is the width is a little wider than optimal because the rack rests on the plastic end fittings for the crossbar and not the crossbar itself.

Any ideas? Or has anyone found a decent inexpensive rack that fits well with the OEM rails?

I have encountered this issue as well. I do not see any adjustable oem looking crossbars out there. I believe the only route we have is to go with some raised crossbars from Yakima or Thule.
