I know the focus isn't to make it compatible with thule cargo boxes, but I was just wondering that now with design finalization if it would be?

As long as a set of cross bars can be added, any Thule/Yakima accessory should be manageable. I also have a Thule box, which I very much plan on continuing to use.

I’ve never used any roof top rack so I’m learning. Appreciate the info!

@Merle the Bronco do you know if your rack will have a set of cross bars or if I should pick up a set? I have a crazy 50% off coupon for one purchase with thule so I’m trying to make sure I get what I need to work with your rack 😁

@Merle the Bronco What price range are we looking at? Saw the $700 restocking fee on returns on your website…

We’re looking on how to incorporate the crossbars into the build. If something changes I’ll definitely bring it up on this thread. Thanks.

Honestly we’re looking to keep the price in the same ballpark as the other systems. The site is still under construction but I’m playing it safe as we begin to finalize the build cost for the prototype…then the build cost once we shift to aluminum or stainless. My next focus will be pricing out shipping as well. That information will change before we go live. Thanks.

Will this work with the MIC hardtop?
If so you definitely have piqued my interest.

It 100% works with the MIC. So far this is the only roof rack system that will be compatible with soft/hard/no top. Thanks for the input and feel free to learn more on www.Raketdesigns.com. That’s not the finished site, but wanted to help share info.

UTAH…if I have a fellow Bronco owner with a 2 door let me know. I need to check some reference points on the hardtop mounting plate. Feel free to message me if we can meet up. Thanks.

8-22-2022 Update

-We’re finalizing several design factors to challenge the 800 lb capacity.
-This is a simple rack system that will be highly customizable by owners, but the build is meant to do the job.
-We came across a really cool concept which (I believe) will make everyone happy.
-We will be featured on an upcoming Bronco build (coming soon).
-Our “Early Intention List” now has 26

Stay updated on this thread, Instagram (@raketdesigns), and on our website www.raketdesigns.com.

Thanks Everyone.

When you mention 800 lb capacity, I'm assuming that's static load? What would the comparable dynamic load be?

I’m assuming 250+. One of the factors that play a major part will be the front accessory mounts. We’re distributing the weight extremely well, but there are areas to improve upon.

Makes sense.
Any plan to have some sort of option that extends the front mounting point down to the cowl? That would presumably be much more stable than relying on those accessory points at the top of the windshield.

That will be something to consider when we get to that point. We’re trying multiple options to see what makes the most sense.

Yeah, I wouldn’t depend on those bolts on the window frame. I’ve already seen someone snap them. It’s half the reason the factory bars have shit load ratings.
