My 2023 4 door Base Sas 2.3 Auto has had a couple of weird brake issues. The first time I was driving through a parking lot when someone pulled out in front of me. I was idling along and suddenly had very weak brakes. Luckily I was going slowly enough to stop but just barely. Then everything was fine again and has been for a few months. Yesterday I was just pulling out of the parking lot at work and my brake pedal went rock solid. No lights or warnings of any sort. This time I was idling (like last time) but I had my foot partially on the brake pedal as I approached the street. I momentarily lifted my foot off the pedal and quickly hit the brakes again and this caused the pedal to go hard. My brakes were weaker than the first time this occurred a few months ago. I can't get it to repeat. Brakes feel fine again so looks like it's time to go in for it's first warranty issue. I've heard plenty about the vacuum leak issue but it seems like that would be more repeatable. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to recreate the issue but it's a lot. I'll let you know what they say.....

Update: Dealer couldn't recreate issue. They asked me to come down and see if I could recreate it but I wasn't able to either. They were going to create a case with Ford to see if they could get any assistance.

Mine had nothing that lit up on the dash or warnings so there were no codes to follow. Dealer acted like they’ve never heard anything like this

So far just a low speed issue for me. Are you still driving yours?

Any updates to share on this. Mine went in two weeks ago and I convinced them to replace the vacuum hose for worry over containments. Two weeks later it did the exact same thing. Dealer says they can't replicate. I said maybe the brake booster needs to be replaced based on my own research. They said Ford won't let them replace it unless they can replicate it. I told him I don't really want them putting hundreds of miles on my car to get the brakes to fail and potentially crash.

Anyone have any updates on their situation for me.

No updates here other than mine hasn’t acted up in over a year. Dealer never found a thing and nothing was ever replaced on mine.

You say went hard - do you mean high and hard? I wish Ford would have used the electric booster they use on the 2.7. My wife complained when I drove hers because just a tap would send you to the windshield compared to my 2.3. My 2.3 Ranger Tremor is he same - soft and mooshy. Thought about upgrading to the big front brake kit, but not sure if it would really improve the feel with the vacuum brake booster.

We have an F150 with 2.7 and electronic booster and I have the same problem switching between vehicles. I’ve about put myself thru the windshield more than once! I doubt that big brake kit will affect pedal feel at all. My Gladiator was vacuum boosted and it was way more aggressive than the Bronco.

I have had this happen three times and the dealer can't replicate it so no resolution and I don't feel safe driving knowing that this could just randomly happen.

That’s pretty scary. This has to something Ford is looking into, right?? The worst thing is that they just give the vehicle back and say “Have a nice day!” They should say “Hope you don’t die or kill somebody next time! Have a nice day!”

The fact that 2025 Broncos with the 2.3 engine now get the electric booster says a lot about what Ford has learned. They replaced the brake line on mine and so far, so good, but I expect more brake issues in the future.

I spent an hour on the phone with Ford only to have them say the dealer can't replicate it, maybe you should take it to another dealer for a second opinion. Super frustrated.

I didn’t know they were going to electronic boost in 2025. Vacuum boosted brakes have been around (and incredibly reliable) for so long I’m surprised they’re having problems instead of the electronic brakes. I wonder how the electronic brakes act when there’s a failure?

there was an issue w/ the electrically boosted brakes on the 2.7L where the vehicle would creep even with the pedal pushed to the floor.

hopefully, fixed at the factory level now...
