Has anybody installed the big silver aluminum Raptor skid plate on a non-Raptor. I have a question about bolt lengths.

Back story:

I was searching for a modular bumper and a Raptor bumper and skid popped up. Price was awesome.

I am moving from plastic bumper and skids on my Wildtrak, so I currently still have the plastic engine skid until I can find a metal replacement.

I wasn't and still not really sure about the look of the front skid, but I did put it on to try it out. The skid did not come with bolts, so I reused the ones from the plastic front skid. 3 of the bolts were fine (two front, passenger or driver rear, I don't remember and everything was upsidedown), but the other side rear was way too short. I have looked at the schematic of the Raptor skids and they don't show any difference in bolts (as far as I can see).

I am not sure if part of my issue is that I still have the plastic engine skid, but the Raptor front skid sits solidly on the frame, so I am not sure that not having the metal skid is my issue. Maybe the Raptor engine skid. is somehow different and required. I am just not sure..

I am still not 100% sure on the silver, but it doesn't look bad, so if I find metal modular skids there is I chance I would move back to the black look.

So if anybody has done this, or know the bolts and possibly bolt part numbers, I would appreciate you help.

Here is what it looks like on my white Wildtrak:

Diego, is the area above the bronco raptor skid plate plastic or metal?

The skid plates mount on a metal frame rail. All broncos have a standoff on the drivers side but raptors have one on the passenger side too, that is why the raptor skid plate is the same on both sides while the plastic or black metal one has one side higher than the other.

just installed mine today and the most time consuming part was taking apart the bumper to install the sensors and wiring harness through the bumper. I have the Raptor skid plate also and will be installing shortly also. This thread helped clear things up on what is required for a proper install.

I’m late as hell here but I’m looking to install the same silver section you installed.. any chance you or anyone else here knows the part number for just his part?? I’m really only interested in that silver piece that slots over the tow hooks/d-rings.

This thread is immensely informative. Just acquired a raptor bumper and plan on installing on my daughters base bronco - basic Big Bend / Sasquatch/v6, plastic bumper, fog lights, no sensors, no ACC. This will be a xmas present and from the look of things, I may need the next 2 months to get this properly planned out.

Coming from the jeep world where a bumper swap takes no thought, I'm amazed at the complexity involved here. For those wondering what a fully disassembled raptor setup looks like, see the pic below. I found a great deal (we'll see in the end) on a take off bumper. I'm pretty sure there are some extra parts in here just to test my patience and resilience.

First step - assemble this jigsaw puzzle to make sure I have all of the parts and know they how they fit together (couldn't Ford build the necessary reinforcements into a singe bumper?), including which bolts / push pins go where, and make sure I'm not missing one of those precious bronco bolts.

I'm also researching install issues that are coming and how this group of experts has solved them.
1) skid plate spacer - looks like a straightforward solution - 1 1/2' square tubing
2) remove / replace / cutoff existing tow hooks - I'm still wrapping my head around the idea that a sawzall is required to swap a bumper
3) remove sensor seats and plug the holes with a blank
4) wiring up the fog lights - ideally I would connect both sets of rigid lights to the existing base fog light wiring - sounds like an upgraded wiring harness will be helpful , and then a pigtail to connect to existing wiring

Am I missing anything?
