I’ve been eying up the Rough Country Tailgate Reinforcement, and was hoping some folks have purchased/installed this already. Few questions:

  • Is this suitable for the factory Sasquatch tires/wheels, or is it primarily for upsized setup?
  • Why does this make a different vs. the factory setup?
  • Does it require any additional drilling, or does it install on factory holes?
  • Lastly, did anyone notice if this helped their cargo door rattle/squeaking noise prior to setup?

Thanks!

Thanks @Raptor911 that was very helpful.

I’m still unclear if I need the relocation bracket or would I just need the reinforcement bracket for my factory wheel/tire?

That video was confusing as he was installing multiple items. You just need this if you want extra support for your spare

Yeah, this video was much better - Thanks. There was some better install tips in the first one though, so overall this really helps me out. I appreciate it!

Anyone who can speak to my cargo door rattle/squeaking comment?

I'm sorry , I can't speak to the squeaking, but I did order this for my Squatched Badlands because the way I see it is you can't go wrong with some reinforcement even if it is only minor (especially for $114 bucks). Overtime that weight drags on the door, at least it does on the Jeep with larger than stock tires.

I’d hope Ford stress tested this on factory tires. But I know better to assume…

One would also think you wouldn't need to caulk windshields to prevent them from leaking, paint hinges and inside tailgates, put rubber stoppers on your roof to keep them from squeaking, tighten down your own fuse box under your hood. Whoops was I on a rant? @604Bronco I'm with you, you shouldn't, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, right?

When this gets sandwiched between the tire carrier and the tailgate does it scratch the tailgate or is there rubber on one side of the bracket

I assume it scratches it over time. It’s just metal on metal by the looks of it.

I think the Braptor one looks better and think I may hold out for them to be available at the parts counter.
