As the title says, my Bronco got rear ended while sitting at a red light after only having made 2 payments on it. As the shop digs into it, they're stating that a whole frame rail needs to be replaced. Seeing that these Broncos are fairly expensive, the cost of repairs isn't enough to total it. With that being said, I've been told that I will be reimbursed for DIV (diminish in value). Does anyone have any insight of a percentage I should look out/fight for since my car fax will obviously be hit pretty hard with some significant repairs being done. I'm attaching pictures of the damage, including the kink in the frame.

That sucks. Diminished works like this. You get a resale value with no damage. Then, hopefully you have a good relationship with dealer and they write up what it would loose because of damage. Then insurance company obviously offers less. You accept or a third party has to get involved. I did this in the past and was offered a fair counter offer so didn’t have to get anyone else involved.
it also really depends on what the damage is. If it’s superficial then it doesn’t hurt value really. Found that out in a different trade in. You have frame damage so that will put a mark on the Carfax

Get a professional involved to help with the diminished value aspect of things. Depending on the state you are in, the rules on how it is handled will be different so everyone commenting here is just an opinion.

We used someone remote from my state but I will say that they helped quite a bit and ultimately negotiated for me but ONLY when we pushed for a 3rd party evaluation. Our state has that dialed into the law and it took it out of the hands of even the other person's insurance company. I got several thousand more than I was even going to negotiate for personnally.

Here is who we used.
