@SirBenimen Would you mind providing the items with links and total cost for the project?
Material list…

2 pulleys: https://www.acehardware.com/departments/hardware/chain-and-rope/pulleys/5308036

a 3/8 50’ “anchor” rope.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W12CUF...abc_BJEV0W7WE2S3X8VHC9QW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Husky Carabineer I found at Home Depot. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKVEPZ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4AB8JH25ZPXTQZ33BP3G

The straps I had made at www.customtiedowns.com they’re 2” x 10’. If I were to do it again I would get shorter straps.

Boat cleat from Home Depot

lags for the ceiling and wall for the cleat and a couple links to attach the pulleys

About a $100 total give or take.

Installed a rope hoist for the rear top. Once rigged up I put a “Taylor” luggage scale on it to measure the weight. I got 69.4 lbs. I rigged up 2 double pulleys and it takes about 17lbs to lift the top.

I used 10’ straps and I have a 10’ ceiling. For my rig 9’ (possibly 8’) straps would have worked better. I almost run out of lift. I put a boat cleat on the back wall to lock it in place off the ground and have a lag bolt going into a truss on the ceiling. It only takes one person to remove the top.

Once the new MIC top gets here I weigh that one as well.

I just did similar but went electric :) Cheap hoist from amazon was like $110 and works like a charm.

I actually don’t mind the sway, it helps me line up the top to the Bronco. I do worry about the single lag in the ceiling, but from my research a 5/16 lag will hold over 200lbs. I use one hand on the rope and one hand guiding the top in place.
Keep in mind that 70lbs can easily become much more under sway. You’ll likely see that lag loosening up before it fails, but it’s almost certainly going to fail eventually. Having 2 points of attachment to the ceiling would still allow you a nice amount of movement for mounting purposes while thoroughly relieving stress compared to the single mount.

zero issue there. EVERY garage is built almost the same. If your boyfriend was right, the weight of the drywall would pull your roof trusses down. Trade him in for a new model. 😜
