So it doesn’t lay flat with the trunk area for hauling stuff (bags of mulch and such)?
No it doesn’t. I’ll go take pics later this morning when I’m done with my work meetings.
im constantly folding them down to load cargo because I travel a lot. The seats are sturdy, which is a good thing, but to load a large box that requires complete base-to-floor contact you’ll have to do a seat delete or a small trunk platform raised about 5” to be level with the seats.

So, could you drop a piece of HDPE and hinge it right behind the seats to allow you to raise the seats in an ‘emergency’ but it would give you a flat floor all the other time as well as under storage to put tools, straps, containers or even contriband?

I'm with you I want a flat cargo area always there. 5"or so of storage. Then when the seats fold down its flat. There is another thread going on a 4 door where someone has a second piece over the seats to make it perfectly flat and no gap. I don't mind a little gap between the seats and the cargo area as long as it's flat. I asked if he could post a pic of it with the seats down and no front piece so waiting on that.

What thickness do you think would be best?

Ill Have to see what I can get
I’m thinking 1/2” max but maybe 1/4 . Haven’t made it to my plastic guy yet for his input

I’ll do a full write up
I used to do it a lot of resto mods pre Facebook or YouTube

https://www.regal-plastics.com/marineboard/

i think it would be the best material long term
If a boat deck works I know it will for me

Taking out my rear seats... but, instead of building a rigid wood platform, I'm going to use a 4' by 6' stall mat from Tractor Supply.

They are 3/4" thick, flexible, easy to trim to fit, easy to clean, and heavy enough to stay in place by themselves.

I can’t just fold both back seats down. At 6’4” I put the seat all the way back, all the way down, and recline a bit. The seat base folded forward interferes.

This is the fit of the back mat for the 4-door bronco in my 2-door. The fit is just right to the contour of the back. I added it to have an area that I can put wet muddy stuff from hunting and fishing. The part by the tail gate still has some memory from the shipping and will flatten out just fine once some heat hits it.

Cheers,

HD

I would love to buy this full set up for the 2 door.
