Backseat Comparison: That's very helpful, thanks! The 2-door 1990's full size Broncos didn't have a rear seat recline that i can remember, but it was a huge seat that folded as one unit; this one has two folding sections. The 1990's seat unit when folded protruded into the space, like a bulkhead, making the seatless cargo area smaller but it was massive due to the wideness--it was basically a chopped F150. The 1990's bulkhead-style seat also impeded on the reclinability of the front seats, cramping leg room for us tall drivers.

The 2021 Bronco is narrower (to state the obvious), which may be why the current design is not a bulkhead but a collapsing design, meaning cargo can go over on top of it

The folded 2021 Bronco rear seat works differently than the 1990's Big Bronco. It collapses down to the floor, so that cargo goes on top of it instead of up to it. That may make up for the lack of comparable interior folded seat floor space. The problem with the new design is in how that engineering was accomplished (it appears).
1. The seat back and bottom seem thin, which means less foam and less structure, which may make them less comfortable, or wear out quicker;
2. Because the seats fold down, collapsing to the floor, you cant have any permanent storage under the rear seat, like on my current F150.
3. In order to fit the pieces of the collapsing rear seat, the folded units are higher than the floor of the seatless rear cargo area, which is not flat, but has two levels. It's possible that the prototype rear floor sliding tailgate option will have the benefit of leveling the two-step floor. Unfortunately, the doors and/or the roof panels dont fit in the back with the sliding tailgate reducing floor height. Personally, the back of my bronco will be too full of "stuff" to ever store doors or panels.

Finally, l would rather have a different rear seat design, with two independent rear seats with a space (or floor console) between them. This car is too narrow for beach umbrellas and folding camp chairs that both will fit sidewise in a pickup truck. So a longer space is needed to lay down long objects, between the seats. This makes it a 4 passenger vehicle!

Of course, we'll know when we get it! Having owned two successive Broncos in the decade of the 1990's, I thought I'd ruminate on the differences with rear seating after seeing this excellent recline photo post. Attached photo: 1994, Race Point, Cape Cod.

Good thoughts on the seats. I have a '94 and the bench backseat lives on the floor of my garage lol. The folding of it only made sense if did the 2-fold where the bench was pivoted all the way forward. Even still I thought it was in the way too often and any place that more than 2 people were going with me they can just sit on the floor and hold onto the cooler! Almost makes it a 7-seater ;)

This is hilarious! All that mechanical shit that can break just so the seat can recline a nearly imperceptible amount

You have a photo of your '94? The brown Bronco I posted was a late 1980's Bronco I bought in TX as I moved to Plattsburgh NY in 1990. I then bought a used green Eddie Bauer about 1996, it was likely a 1994! A few years later, with too many kids & friends, traded for a E150 Club Van. Never thought of how nostalgic I'd be for the old Bronco, and here we are in 2021!

I have far too many pics lol. Here's a couple; I also have a showcase of this one: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/showcase/1994-ford-bronco-xl.295/

Personally, I don't really care as 90% of the time it will be my dogs riding back there. Occasionally a passenger or two for short stints. Most of the people I go wheeling with have their own rigs. My son is 22 and doesn't live with me, and so won't be with me regularly. That said, it is kind of comical how completely useless that "recline" is. I think mostly it will be co-workers that I don't like as much, on lunch outings during work, "Oh you didn't finish that code review I sent you, back seat for you!" haha!

If you think that's a huge fail, have you seen the 3rd row seats?! Ford really screwed the pooch on that. Not sure how they expect me to travel with 7 people in comfort in the Bronco. Complete fail. Considering how important 3rd rows are to people, its incredible they basically just phoned it in on the Bronco.... it's like they had their priorities all wrong.
I see what you did there. *highfive*

There is a perception vs reality element to this. A little bit of recline can feel like a lot.

Either way, I don't really care as the average rider in the back seat will be under the age of 10, so who gives a F. They're just lucky I don't make them walk. <Insert loving father comment here>
Don’t worry when they become teenagers then you’ll make them walk. 😂

Once again, your quick tongue and desire to bash Ford betrays your point.

I strap the extra people to a roof rack or have them hold onto the spare tire and there is plenty of space. I expect the whole clan of 12 to enjoy Bronco, especially when we're tackling Hell's Revenge! Because if you're planning an entire family vacation with the in-laws and kidfolk, you NEED to do some extreme off-roading while everybody is safely ratchet strapped down. That's what Bronco was made for, after all.

I just don't understand how they thought engineering a 1 inch recline added value but a few extra bolts to make it removeable wasn't a priority. Unless you have kids, it's a near useless seat and takes up so much valuable cargo space.
